i pressure my tires 33 all around & use a 36 psi tire minders.
reasoning: when presure drops 4 psi below the rated minder value the minder changes color to yellow, and red 10 psi below. this will alert me at 32 psi (and red @ 26 psi - not recommended to wait that long)

 

ohhh.. thats useful... especially in all season cities.

 

The tire minder thing is a good idea, but does it look okay hanging out that far off your tire?

they are only 1" total length, but part of this (about 1/4" threads into the valve itself) so youre talking only about 3/4" additional protrusion.

 

just for cosmetics purposes, id prolly leave em on my car when its parked overnite and then check em in the morning and replace em right after.

 

if i knew how, i would. i need special a fixture to do this.
i just have to trust the manufacturer on this - just like the pressure gauges you buy.

 

I would think if you use a tire pressure gauge to check it at different colors illumination you could get a ball park accuracy.

If the pressure read from the tire gauge is the same as the trigger values (for the 36, trigger at <32 and <26) then you could say its accurate.

 

If you are going to do that you might as well check the pressure with a gauge.

Any concern that the extra weight will cause pressure on the valve stem? How noticable are they, I was thinking about getting some because I am lazy.

 

These things look like a good idea...as long as they dont get ripped off...I may get a set too...

 

Do you have a photo of them on your car? Not a close up, but kind of side view so we can see how noticeable they are?

I remember reading something (I think in one of my car mag's) that they're a good idea, but they don't seem to chg colors until their is a significant loss of pressure. (More than the 4 psi advertised). The article basically didn't recommend them.

But hey, they may be wrong. Keep us posted!
