Window Tint..I think I'm gonna cry (long)
HIGH PRICED TINT JOB!!!
You payed that much to have your windows tinted??? you got ripped majorly...im getting mine done next week for $100, the place i am going does a perfect job and will back the job for as long as you own the car. which means if it screws up you take it back and he will redo it for free....27% all around...not the darkest but hey thats as dark as i can get here in SC.
NEVER, EVER PAY THAT MUCH TO PAY FOR TINT!
It's not brain surgery... I only paid $140 for Llumar film and install + lifetime warranty. It was done extremely well. When my car was broken into a few months ago the whole rear passenger side window and vent glass was shattered. I had to get them replaced and retinted. I had to take it to a different shop because my shop is 10 states away (FL). The tint guys there complimented me on the rest of the windows. They asked where I'd had it done.
My father also had his Q45 tinted there and my sisters G20. They do immaculate work. They also do tinting for office buildings and such like your place does. But THAT much is TOOOO MUCH!

Don't get the extra layer of tint put on. You'll get used to the 20% within a few months. 20% looks nicer anyway. I know everyone has their own preferences, but generally people that have their windows done pitch black are usually youngsters. 20% or 35% looks more classy. Do you need to hide?

I got my tint job (which looks GREAT by the way) for $160.
35% all around, one piece rear windshield, and the tints go all the way up to the edges on all 4 windows.
I paid 165 for Madico Onyx 20% on my black Max. It looks good but it's not perfect by any means. The tint itself is beautiful and the blackest tint I've seen in a while. Not that you can't see through it but it's truely black.
I can understand how a shop could take that long considering that back window. The back window seems tough. My tint does not cover the antenna but you can't notice it unless you're in the car.

This is coming from a person who has a fair amount of experience in "normal" auto-tinting and custom multi-layers of tint...
I custom tinted my integra with multi layers. My integra was white, with chrome wheels so I was attempting to match my windows with the chrome wheels. The first layer was done in a 26% Stainless Steel reflective film...which was backed by a 35% Cobolt/metalized film which gave it a mirror effect. Could see outside at night with ease, but everyone outside looking in would just see themself...basically, the same effects as a mirror. Worked and turned out great.
IMHO, as long as the first layer of film is done flawlessly...which I believe it has, after hearing your opinion...then the "flaws" in the second layer will not be seen as easily as if they were in the first layer (unless you have large amounts of dirt...and I mean large, like a pebble or a handful of hair). Personally, I think you should keep the shade you have and leave it alone....BUT if you really want it darker, leave the first layer there and have a less expensive place tint another layer on top of the existing. Saves money (if its possible).... just my .02 Good luck!

what kind of film did they use for that price? i work at a glass shop in maine and we tint cars i did a 2k2 max like mine for 250.00 and we pulled all the glass except the back and the windshield and came out awsome, and who ever told you to put tint over tint is wrong that will look horrible beleave me ive tried it. good look
where?
where did you get your tints?
i live in the flushing queens area and i'll be going to Best sound and security on Northern Blvd. to get my tints done over winter break.
that shop does some great work, and they're going to charge me 250.
i think it's a decent price to pay for quality work.

He said he sees a difference and was willing to pay for it. When you buy a watch, you can buy a casio or a cartier - they both keep time - only diff is in the small details... Having worried about my car everytime I've had anything done, I can see paying alot more than the going rate to have something done right the first time and them not damage anything. Trust ain't cheap.

You definitely don't want to put tint over tint. It will probably look ok, but once you start rolling up and down your windows it will start to peel. It's ok to tint over windows that you don't roll down like your rear window. But you don't want to do it on the four dour windows. Just pay the $5 or so that most places will charge you to strip the window and re tint.

Leave the tint for two months. When those two months are up, go to the bank and pull out the $400.00 (or whatever this is going to cost) in 20's. Spread the money across your kitchen table (wooah that's a lot of cash!) and then make your decision.

I had my double layers on all my windows, stationary and roll-ups...no problems with it peeling and I had it on for 10 years.
