I have the updated TCM and I bought it from Y2kevSE along with the solenoid and VB mod. the shift point seems to be a bit higher than before. but shifting-wise, I couldnt really tell because I didnt have that infamous slipping problem per TSB.

The one ends with 161? or 160? I believe kevin had the old one that ends with 160 unless he bought the new one again!!

So is the 160\161 model the one they'd switch you to if you had the TSB work done?

I took mine in to a dealer for the slipping problem and they kept it for a day. When I got there in the afternoon, they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. Strangely, I stopped having the problem after that. So I'm guessing they did the TSB work, but don't want to admit there was a problem.

I've been looking for a way to check to see if they actually did do the work or not.

u can take out the shift console and locate the TCM....probably the serial no. is blocked but u can always use a little mirror.

kevin's homepage (boostedmaximas.com) has more info on the location of the serial no. on the TCM.

and did u get ur gauge/vacuum problem fixed?

Too lazy after work on the weekdays to work on the car. I'm waiting till my 4 days off this weekend to check on it. I'm also getting all my exhaust work this weekend .

Thanks for the information!

Looks like you didn't just buy an SC from Kev, you bought his knowledge and tech support too! Does he provide 24-7 support? Now if every manufacturer\salesman had that kind of after-sale support, we'd be on easy street.

Yup....that's the main reason that I put my money down for the SC. Otherwise, I would've stayed NA. I made my final decision after he installed my vb. I really like the way he did the work. He follows the book step by step and he's the quality-first guy with very good knowledge. 24-7 support? I onced called him pretty late about my gauge install and he answered all my qeustions. (feels like I am doing a commercial for Kevin)

but if u think about it this way.....if all speed shops/manufacturers are like this...I think they only can do so little work and make so little money. When quality goes up....I blieve quantity goes down.

Good points about the quality\quantity. If Kevin is reading this, I'm curious what he'd charge for a tranny swap (install costs only, I'll buy the parts ). I'll even drive my car up to SF (sister lives in Berkeley).

Btw, no test pipe, only Y-pipe (probably modified), RT cat, and B-pipe. I can't wait to maximize the power of the SC with these mods!

Yeah, that is the one I am talking about, I am debating whether to get the latest one or not???

Why in the hell would Nissan had 4 different version of TSB for just tranny slipping in less than 2 years of time??? Are they gonna come out different one next year???

there are three .org members in the bay area (that I know of) are capable doing such job. Matthel (turbo95Max) Kevin and Mingo. Kevin is quite busy with his job and he's only available on weekends. Mingo is at school in LA. Matthel would be the first person to cotnact and he did a lot of parts install for .org members. I believe he has access to get parts as well. good thing that u have relatives living in the Bay Area....so u can have some place to stay while waiting for this project to be done.

I really need teh B-pipe to get rid of the restrictive stock pipe....and a test pipe too. U still have stock muffler? I plan to keep it to turn her into a sleeper.

IMO, as long the TCM can eliminate the slipping problem, it is a good one. Nissan had 4 diff. versions of TSB and 3 versions of TCM because the past version cannot eliminate the problem on maybe some or many 2k+ Maximas.
