Bank 1 Sensor 2....what exactly does the "circuit high" part mean?

Went to autozone and had the above code pulled.
Ran a search and turns out that is an old code and the new code is P0158.

Anyone know around how much I'll be charged to get this replaced?

Also noticed that my rpm is acting kinda funny.
Is their still a possibility of my MAF going bad because of this?

Will not hurt your MAF...it only monitors your incoming fresh air flow...

This is an emissions part, you should still be under warranty with your 2k1. Take it to the dealer. ESM says it could be a short in o2 sensor wiring or water in the sensor or a bad sensor.

Since it's an emissions part, you're covered beyond the bumper-to-bumper 36k...to somewhere around 50 or 60k...check it out. Check your POWERTRAIN warranty info... You may have to pay a deductible, but will still be worth your while I bet.

I have a 2k2 ESM, may not be the same for you...

Which is it? Powertrain warranty to 50 or 60k? I've heard both. Is it different per what emissions system we have (Cali or Fed?)???

I have a 2000 SE and I'm pretty sure that I have this same problem or something very similar. I have around the same mileage too. A little more. I'm a tiny bit above 50k so I'm definitely concerned if my powertrain warranty was only til 50k... which doesn't seem right to me because I swear it's 60k.

Can I get some verification on this from you guys?

 

You guys should be covered under the emissions warranty which I believe is 50,000 miles. I just had two O2 sensors replaced in a 2 months span and both were covered. I believe that this info is in you warranty booklet. I don't think that the powertrain warranty would cover this but ask your dealer and hopefully they will cover it.

 

Hmmm....I was just about to say 60k!!! Well, I don't have the warranty booklet in my car that outlines it, and I can't find it online. Perhaps look in your warranty info booklet with your owner's manual? Let us know...

just in case anyone else might have some useful input......

 

You may want to try and re-set the ECU 1st before taking it to the dealer. If the codes don't come back after a couple of days you're golden, if they do then you have a legitimate problem. I had this same code, as well as a fuel injector code, and my car also ran a little rough. I re-set the ecu and the codes went away. The car ran great, and they have not come back at all. This was over a month ago. Just unplug the negative battery cable for a minimum of 24 hours (this is the length of time the shop manual recommeds). OR if you can't have your max down that long, leave it unplugged overnight, minimum of at least eight hours, then touch the negative cable to the positive terminal on the battery for a few seconds while having someone turn the ignition to the on poisition for a couple of moments (MAKE SURE NOTHING IS IN CONTACT WITH THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL). This will ensure any remaining charge in the system is eliminated. Plug the negative cable back, turn on the car and let it idle until it reaches operating temp. It'll take a a couple of days for the ECU to re-learn so you're Max will seem a little sluggish for a couple of days. If the codes don't come back you're cool! Seems that the max ECU (at least on some 5th gens) have a tendency to throw codes at random every now and then!

 

I visited a different Autozone and they got a 0139 and a 0140 from my car!

Are you guys sure it's 50k? TimW told me it was 60k?

Talk to your dealer and see what they say. This information is in your warranty booklet (emimmions warranty). When I went to the dealer they told me that the O2 sensors fall under the emssions warranty and not the powertrain. However, even though my car had under 50,000 miles they were giving me a 300 dollar + qoute so have the O2 sensors replaced to I went to another dealer. Doesn't hurt to try.

lcf, I am just posting what one dealer told me. I would check with your dealer and see what happens. Maybe that dealer was lying and the O2 sensors extend past the emissions to 60k miles.

 

hey guys, I've been driving around quite a bit with the SES light on.
I work all day and haven'thad time to take it into the dealer.


If I do have a blown 02 sensor is it ok that I drive around and could this possibly cause more harm?

A blown O2 sensor will cause yoru car to run rich to protect it from leaning out and blowing the motor.. it will cause you to burn more gas..

Here ya go... location for your sensors. And by the way Nissan has a current TSB on that particular error code that you mentioned, so you may want to see if the dealer will cover it.

 

To add to what Sprint said it will also cause your catalytic convertor to get messed up over time. Not only that but you might not passed your smog test when you need to get one done on your car. I can tell you that after I got my O2 sensor replaced (one of the front ones cause we have four on our cars, Cal. spec) my car felt better, but not faster.

b) TSB for the faulty transverse link. whenever i turn hard to the left i hear this really messed up creaking noise.

my poor baby will be at the mercy of nissan service tech's.

I just called my dealership and they told me that anything a part of the emissions system is only covered under the bumper-to-bumper 3 year/36k warranty. I guess I'm SOL. I made an appointment for wednesday.

Guys, is there ANYTHING I can say or do to have this done for free? I mean it is ridiculous that this can happen to a near 30k priced vehicle so early in the game.

it's monday morning at 7am.....i need the 02 sensor replaced
but I also have 5 TSB's I'm bringing in also.

a) interior rattles
b) transverse link recall
c) driver side window squeals
d) buzzing noise after engine is shut off
e) possible tranny slippage


could you tell your friend that I need all these problems checked out as well?

 

Youre going to have to show the TSBs at the front desk, he doesnt work there, so he doesnt really know the people that do.

He'll make sure that everyone takes care of the car.

I'll talk to him and see what he can do.

I think you need to check with another dealer. If you have a California spec vehicle then check p. 10 of your "Warranty Information and Maintenance Log Booklet" In there it states that you have a 3year/50,000 mile warranty. If you have a Federal Spec car then there is info in that on page 9. Also remeber that you talk to one person there. Talk to someone else if going to another dealer is an incovinience for you. Remember that not everyone that works there is knowledgeable.
