My First Mod

If you don't count the tires, I just did my 1st mod today. Ok, I guess I wouildn't consider it a "real" od, but I bought a K&N drop in today. I bought this NOT because I thouight I wouold get any hp gain, but it seemed like a good idea considering I don't have to buy anothe air filter.

They (kn)say that you get more hp with this filter. Um, ok. Whatever the hp increase is, it's not enough to register on the butt dyno. (Not that I thought it would).

Just thought I'd share. I think a Budget y-pipe is next.

i threw my K&N in when i picked my max at the dealership. i didnt want to have to tell if it made a difference or not so i put it in before i drove it. i actually only had it because the altima i was getting rid of used the same filter. you will or should be able to notice the difference when the y pipe goes on.

*** I hope so. I'd hate to have to spemd a ton of cash to notice any real improvement. I'm thinking about suspension mods after the y-pipe. I mean, why the hell not?

The Real Question....

Where do you mount the sticker for the most hp gain?

Do it like the HONDAS, put as many as you can on your car and it will ad about 20-40HP depending on the amount of stickers.

Congrats. I have been thinking of just doing the K & N drop as well..., since there is so much inconclusive evidence on aftermarket CAI, WAI, POP, HYPER, whatever...

I will continue to sit on the sidelines until things get a little clearer.

Well, first I was all set to get the Berk. Then I thought I'd get the PRCAI. But the Injen requires no cutting, so I thought maybe........

My final thought is that intakes look really cool under the hood, and sound awesome. But, given the increased potential for MAF failure, and the cost....I'll just stick w/ the stock air box and do the K&N drop in.

I think my real problem is that I have a need for noticeable gratification. In other words, I want horsepower I can feel. Unfortunately, that takes real money.

The only reason I bought my Frankencar mid pipe and K&N intake was for the growl. I didnt like the quietness of my maxima when racing other people now at least it sounds a little mad and others can hear the power of my engine

I totally agree. If I were to get an aftermarket intake, I would do so for that reason.

So far I like what I've been hearing about Frankencar w/Berk intake.

However it will be hard trying to convince the wife to go for the growl..."honey there is nothing wrong with the car that's the way it sounded when we bought it; didn't you notice ?"
