Yeah there are about 45,235 threads on this just in the 5th Gen forum alone

What it comes down to is....

0-80 mph: Advantage Maxima (better low/mid-range torque)

80-110 mph: Advantage Acura (better 3rd gear)

1/4 mile: Pretty much even ET's, with the Acura pulling about 2-3 mph higher traps, which indicates it was behind before and had just caught up at the line and was pulling on the Max.

110-130: Advantage Maxima. Acura hits OD 4th, meanwhile Maxima is still hauling azz in 1.00:1 3rd up to about 130mph.

130+:

I hope that was joke you made, Max's could definately keep up with the CL if not beat it.

Nope. Steve's figures are right. I have nothing to argue about. The auto Max has the 0-60 that is for sure. But the CL-S defintely has the highway grunt.

Of course till 110 it hits a wall. lol But I don't drive that fast often, so it doesn't bother me. Passing power is what I like

But mod for mod, the CL-S would defintely be very fast compared to the auto 2k2. It gains the most from mods.

Yep, aftermarket support definitely goes to the Acura's by far.

Do you have some sort of warning siren in your house (like they have in submarines) that goes off whenever there is even a smidget of an Acura-related post on this board?

little off topic

anyone see the 2004 cl-s supercharged from the factory? I think that's nice! It's going to give the g35c a run for it's money.

Hey RussMaxManiac, was the post about TL-S not CL-S, the CL-S is faster than the TL-S, but if we want to compare apple with apple the comparison must be done with the TL-S versus 2K2-3 not CL-S.

Cheers

Again and again and again and again and again and again.......

CL-S compares with the G35C

TL-S compares with the I35/G35S NOT 2K2-2K3

The 2004 CL-S with the Supercharger would rape the G35C. The CL-S SC has 312WHP. The G35C is about 235+WHP. But they are two totaly different cars and both have nice qualities.

I think the new CL-S stock w/ no supercharger has 280HP 3.2L V6.

Though I'm certain of a stratospheric sticker price, I'm eager to see how Nissan replaces the previous R34 GTR V-Spec. Pressumably, we're looking at Nissan's current G35 Coupe and adding (at a minimum) twin-turbos and AWD to a car that'll run low 14s/upper 13s in its current form. SICK!!

It won't be stillen making the blower. That project was axed.

Also, my Honduh is much better than a Maxima. Now compare your Max to the Accord...I would have to say, the power goes to the Max, but damn that Accord is much more refined. New accord that is.

All I know is that no POS TL-S has ever beat me.. even with my so called " heavy a$$ " 19's... All the races are real close. .. Now the CL-S would be different for sure. If you were to drop an SC in a 2K2 the HP numbers would be outrageous.. Thats why most guys are going NITROUS , since an SC probably wont be available anytime soon. As far as buying a TL-S SC'ed from HunDuh... Why would you pay that kind of money for that Glorified Civic ! .... Go get a real car while you are in that price range.. Like an M3, A6 Bi Turbo , or with a little more , an M5 ...

boy its funny how a heavier car that dynos less than ours can destroy us in a race. I would like to challenge a cls or tls to run me at the track b/c I have never ran one and would like to see the outcome.

The CL-S or TL-S dyno more hp than the 2k2 Auto Max. But you guys dyno a bit more TQ.

We only weigh 200lb less, but we also have better gearing and a better powerband.

That is all it takes to take a auto Maxima out. Steve already showed how it was possible. 0-60 is defintely the Max, but after that the CL-S will catch up and pass till it hits the wall at 110 then the Max should start to gain again.

Edit: But of course once the CL/TL has mods, its all over for the auto Maxima. The CL/TL autos hit 240-250 at the wheels with all the bolt ons. The 6spds are expected to hit near 260 once someone gets all the mods on one. Currently there is one at 245 hp with headers, and intake.

well how do you explain your guys quoting I walked a max from a stop by 2-3 cars blah blah. And btw just because you can get a cls for 27k doesn't meant the whole world can. When I was looking at my max I found one that was stickered at 32k which was w/o navi. They wouldn't budge under 30k and right now I can go pick up a max with navi for 27k. I like both cars but the cl and tl aren't ever comparable in price range or class to that matter. last dyno I saw was the header guy putting down 192 whp and the torque was very low.

I dynoed 2 weeks ago, and got 199 hp and 182 tq. I dynoed when I first got my car with hardly any miles, 197 hp and 182~ tq. The CL-S auto range from 192-205 hp (with most in the high 190s), and 6spds 215-225 with most in the low 220s.

2k2 Maxima Autos dyno from 187-195hp stock to all the dynos I found just doing a search a little while ago. The Maxima 6spds are 201-205hp, we have only 2 autos CL-Ss that do that stock, they did 205 hp stock.

The CL-S 6spds dyno 215-220 stock for hp, and 205 tq.

Also read my edit above....I added it.

Right they aren't. The accord v6 6spd, which will be so rare, you guys shouldn't even worry about it.

Hey, who knows how he launched off the line... The Max might have sat there spinning which it is very possible for that 2k2 auto to do since I did it a good amount in the rental. But every time I launched the rental, I got a good 1 1/2 car jump off the line, when racing another CL-S...but by the end of the track he passed me very quickly. Of course his trap was 6-7mph faster than mine.

I'm not doubting the cls better gearing but... you and everyone else knows that rental was ****ed trapping 88-90 with 2.2 60's. Anyway I'm suprised that this thread has lasted this long

15.0 at 90 mph isn't much slower than others getting 15.2 at 92 mph, or 14.9 at 92, etc. It's only 2 mph slower than most others. And that was due to the octane.
