I am going this Saturday to look/buy and 02 max with no extras except a sunroof. I am looking for more than that, but its black, 6sp with black interior.

My question is this: should i ask about the TSBs on the car and if they were fixed? If so, should I ask for the paperwork?

Another question: I really wanted the upgraded stereo and some other upgrades (basically, the titanium package). Can I get the dealer to put them in along with tinted windows (legal tint)? Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated. This board is phenomenal!

New or used? I've seen some used 2002's for approx 18K, new I would think 5 to 6 k more.

 

You DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT want the bose stereo. You could put a much better one in yourself for the 1000 they'll charge you. And i doubt they'll tint your windows, or that you would want them too. Ask them about the warranty work, and TSB's, ask to see it in writing if you're really interested in the car.

 

I inquired the board about this same car a few months back. It has 4800 miles on it (driven by a manager - supposedly) and was a demo. Earlier, the guy on the phone was asking 23,200. I figure since the guy on the phone last night told me that the market is pretty bad and he can't sell any of his 03s, then that gives me the bargaining power. They actually had an ad in the paper yesterday selling their used 02s for 15,660. I called them this morning and the guy said they were all gone. Told me he bought 20 of them (stock, no extras) and they sold like hotcakes. I don't believe it (the part about buying 20 stock SEs and selling them for 15,660. yeah, come on.

let me understand this then (compiled from the responses):

no upgraded stereo (although i do want the 6 disc changer)
no window tinting by the dealer (poor quality or overcharge?)
ask about the TSBs with paperwork

One more question - Does the 2k2 SE come standard with HID headlights?

 

Yes it does.

 

For the $1000 they would charge you for the blows you can get a real nice 6 disc changer high quality system -throw in a little more for a DVD system. Don't get the Bose if it's not in there.

Also, ask to meet the Service Manager you'll have and let him understand the care you expect on the vehicle - it may not mean a lot down the road but sometimes people take pride in their word and it may help you in the long run.

Does it have front and rear mud guards - see if the'll throw them in if not - they're cheap. You might can try for an extended warranty since it was a "demo". Sometimes those are beaten up on pretty bad.

 

it already comes with the bose stereo, right? but, only a single disc. or, is the stock stereo something else? thanks
