New Member and First Question MIL Light****

Hi all,

My name is Felix and I am new to the board. I have been lurking for a few months and I like all the great info. I have a 2000 Max SE and I love the car. It rides great and I the sun roof kicks ***. No mods yet, but then again I don't plan on doing any as I like the car the way it is. Maybe I'll change my mind down the road.

Anyways! I ran into my first problem witht the car. The Service Engine Soon Light came on 2 days ago. First I made sure the car was running okay and it was. Last night I unplugged the positive cable from the battery for about 3 hours. I hooked it back up and woke up the this morning to start the car before I left to work. I usually let the car warm up to operating temp in the morning before driving it. Well after I turned it on and popped the trunk and while I was putting some stuff in the trunk I heard a ruff idle coming from the exhaust. So I went up to the engine bay and noticed that the car would stutter every minute or so. I let it warm up and took it for drive and the car would not accelater hard at all. Only would only speed up slowly and would not go past 4k rpm. If I slammed the gas it would act like it the engine was going up in rpm but the car itself would not accelerate and go any faster. It would just fall on its face. I did check the code at Autozone before I unplugged the battery and it was P0171 Bank 1 Lean or something along those lines.

My question is: Has anyone had this problem and been able to correct it properly and if not what do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Felix

I really don't know anythign about the problem. It would seem to me though that since it is drivetrain related it would fall under Nissan's 5 year/60k mile powertrain warranty. That is as long as you are still under 60k miles.

Good Luck.

Welcome the board and another AZ Maxima member. Where are you located?

As to your problem, you need to take it to a dealer UNLESS you happen to be in Tucson, then maybe I can help diagnosis your problem.

Good luck.

Thanks for the Offer

Thanks for the offer ICE, I am located in Phx. Goodyear to be exact

Anyways, I checkd the MAF and and it looked okay...to me at least, cleaned out the air filter too!

So I drove it some thinking it may need to relearn driving conditions and that was no good. While I was driving it the Service Engine Soon came back on. I went ahead and took it to the dealership. I just remembered that I purchased an extended warranty when I bought it and it has 42k miles on it. So hopefully I will get it back today.

Thanks for the input though.

Felix
