THis morning (5:30 ish) I was driving to work when a newer Camaro Z28 convertible passed by (he was going 80 or so... I was doing 75 in a 70). I started to pace him just to see what he would do...he sped up a little...so did I...this went on for a few seconds when he decided to nail it.... There was almost no traffic so I decided to give him a try... I punched it too. EVERYTHING my '02 could manage couldn't even BEGIN to hang with that car...The last time I looked at my speedo...it was about to hit 120...even at that speed, the Z28 tail lights just got smaller and smaller. That guy was pulling like a fighter jet... I new he would be faster but I didn't know he would be THAT much faster. Guys... a word of wisdom...Don't try to play with a true muscle car..you will lose.

 

yeah just dont even try...no matter how much we hate on those mustangs or camaros...they can more or less beat us w/o trying!!!

 

Since we already lose in our Displacement, thats why we must use more Technology to win. Thats what Tuning a Car is all about.

by the time we hit 60 KM/H the guy had 5 cars on us already & dispearing quick

 

I tried that with a SS Camero last year. Late night, the guy took off on me so fast I was glad he didn't slow down (he kept going on and on and on and on until I couldn't see him anymore).

Stock Mustangs are not in the same league as LS powered Camaros. A stock 6 speed Max will run neck and neck with a 5 speed GT. I ran a Bullitt Mustang dead even with my Max from a roll (about 5 mph) until 90 mph (yes he was trying).

 

camaros are so much faster than stangs. stangs are some slow azz *****

 

LS1 F-body > Newer Mustang > 3.5 Max

To make this thread a little more legal at my last time at the track I lined up with a LT1 Camaro, and off the line we were even (he got late start) as soon as I hit 2nd gear, that motherf)<kEr just kept pulling. I was amazed.

 

mustang GT 5speeds are about .7 seconds slower than an LS camaro or trans am. the only thing is that mustangs respond much better to mods, so with some money you can make a mustang faster than a camaro and much easier too. but the svt cobra's are good contenders with the z28, ss, and trans am. my buddy owns a z28 with flowmaster exhaust and intake and gets his azz handed to him every time by a stock svt cobra (not the 2k3 s/c ones either)

 

Those GT 5-speeds, you're talkin about '99+? At the track it was like a sea of 5.0's I've never seen so many. You're buddies Z28, what year? Stock for stock, the 99 and 01 cobras are about even with the LS1's.

 

Whatever you do, don't ever "F" with a 2K3 Cobra.. They run high 12's STOCK ! The SS Camaro's are beasts too. Auot or 6 speed, Camaro's and T/A's run the same times...

 

No kidding. When I was at the track the last time I saw a 2k3 Cobra. I talked to the owner for awhile, complimenting his car and made sure I didn't drool all over his car. I asked him when he ran, he said 12.5 with just a K&N filter! Even he was surprised by it.

 

My friend has one, and he raced a 911 Turbo , the new wone, and he took him by 1 full car with a pulley upgrade , and catback, and intake.....talk about bang for the buck, and for you ignorrant V8 haters, the car handles like a **** in the twisties.... !
