Wow this is too damn hard

after 2 hours of finally taking out my dash, taking out the radio from the harness thing which took forever and we had to drill through 2 screws, sooldering the wires and then it comes time to put the Pioneer 7400 MP head unit in the Sosche Kit.....

it doesnt ****ing fit.

Now I gotta shave off the kit and hopefully it will fit. What a load of bull****.... I've got mosquito bites all over me and nothing to show for it plus there is a huge opening in my dash.

ummm last time I checked you had to solder the wires on the wiring harness.

I opened the dash all good and fine

I got the dash kit and harness from sounddomain.com and its for 2000 +

No antennae adapter, forgot about that. Dont really listen to antena much becase with the MP3 deck I can hold 100's of songs on 1 CD.

The head unit fits but when you try to fold down the flap it wont let you to access CD drive.

hmm.. well for the wires, i just used barrel but connectors.. so i can remove them..
u should use MOLEX, i wish i got that..

anyways...
i have the 8400 pinoeer, and it fit fine..hmm..maybe they gave u the wrong one!

as for the antenna, dude, get it now because ull get so tired of going back in there.. and ull want the radio after getting tired of those cds! trust me

go to good guys, get the harness.. try it..return it..

if it fits, u know u got the wrong one..
if it doesnt, i guess ull be needing to do some custom work to ur harness...

Arggh after long and hard work I got it! It doesnt look too bad, theres just a little tiny space between the AC and head unit and the AC vents had a lil trouble getting back on.

I have a few questions..

Is it safe to run music at high volumes on the Bose Speakers? The headunit is pushing 4 X 50 with 22 watts RMS..... would it blow the speakers if I had it ad a moderate volume?

Also, I have some ALpine SPX 177 A components I was gonna put it. Do i need to rewire the speaker wires?

It sounds and looks great, I'm having second thoughs about putting hte ALpines in...

The sub in the back also sounds a lot louder, I cant wait till I get my 2 12's Shivas in there pushing 600 watts a peice

if i were u, i would DEFINETALY put the components in,
the bose speakers SUCK.

As for rewiring, I would do so for two reasons,
1) Not mess with the OEM wires, just in case u wanna return to stock. Ur gonna have to clip the connectors off..
2) Most likely the stock speaker wire is thin and sucks. I would put in higher guage wires with insulation.

rewiring is a pain in the a$$, so do it right...oh yea, to make ur life easier, dont use solder, use barrel connectors.

Im gonna let the local audio shop do the sub/amp/component install so ill let them worry about it!

But the speakers sounded a lot better, at least bearable.

WARNING!!

You better not be running the factory bose speakers because they are 1 ohm woofers and 4 ohm tweeters..

I guarantee you will blow your deck in less tahn a week..

THe pioneer is designed for only minimum impedence of 4 ohms.... I swear to you, do not run it this way.. or else your deck will blow and it won't be covered under warranty...

BTW.. i have a Pioneer P8250 in my max

www.pbase.com/minirx7

I never drilled anything!
