HELP, Advice and Suggest a new owner of a MAX!!

Greetings;

I recently purchased a Nissan Maxima SE, PEARL WHITE, 2001, USED with 22k miles on it. I bought it for many reasons, one which was that I was tired of my old clunker(1995 mazda mx6 2 door coupe 4 cylinder) and needed a better car, and I had a limited budget. Two, I think i got a good deal on it.

BUT, and there is alwas a but, I bought it from Enterprise Car Sales, so YES my car used to be a RENTAL. I bought the extended warranty that is offered by Enterprise to cover the car for an additional 36k miles or 3 years after the current warranty expires. My total cost of the car was 15.3k plus tax and the $395 extende warranty. The car is in real good condition, Im happy with it. I like it a lot. I feel good about the buy.

Regardless, I want to take advantage of the Nissan Warranty in case of any potential problems that may arise and can already be covered under the current manufacuters warranty. I recently made two quick trips to Las Vegas, and realized that i have some sort of wind noise in the back area of the car, the back door area to be exact. Can this noise be corrected under the warranty? I have read the maxima.org site and found that some of the complaints that you all have posted, I share. Can someone please help me and let me know what can be fixed or taken care of by Nissans current warranty.

1) Wind Noise in the rear.
2) I had the car aligned by Enterprise, and myself and it still pulls to the left. I checked tires, brakes, etc.
3) Sometimes when i try to turn the car on, it fails to ignite or start. Bad starter?
4) Any other isses or complaints that I can have checked out by Nissan?
5) Anyone recomend having a Moonroof added throught the dealer? My concern is leaks.
6) Please make suggestions!!!!!!

I would like to take advantage of the current warranty at Nissan's expense. Even thought Enterprise checked and verified and have all their cars thoroughly tested and checked, I feel that if there is precedent and documented complaints already, I should go in there and have my car checked out, specially since I will have my old mazda for another month.

Please help, advice and suggest!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Andy ( a happy-up-to-now new maxima owner )

sorry for the long message.

Yes there are some who have excessive wind noise from the rear window area. Mine was loose weather proofing and it got really noisy right after I washed my car. Make sure the weather proofing is fastened securely. Another thing you can try is to lubricate the proofing with some baby oil. That worked for me. I had a rental car for 2 weeks last week and I noticed that the car did always start but that was a Alero (GM) so I think that was due to abuse. Take the car to the dealer and tell them that it doesn't start sometimes. Nissan service depts are @$$holes but they will replace your starter since it's under warranty.

I don't reccomend a aftermarket sunroof I have heard of people having problems with them later on down the road...

Get the dealer to check out the wind noise and don't let them give you the ol, "Our technician heard nothing" speech. Go for a ride WITH the service manager and show him. Otherwise, they will inevitably blow you off.

Don't get a sunroof added. You are asking for trouble.

Starter? Get that to the dealer ASAP. It could be a number of things.

Most cars have torque pulls, when it pulls one way upon acceleration. This is normal. If the problem is excessive, rotate your tires and see if that helps. If the problem goes away, then you most likely have a radial pull (defective tire) or just uneven tire wear. The stock tires suck a fatty anyhow, so replacing them at 22,000 miles is not a big deal.

Welcome! By the way, my name is Andy too.....
