Why our resale values are so low

Here is why our resale values are so low. You can purchase a new 2K3 Maxima SE (yeh its the entry level but heh..)here is Mass for $21,327. Not a bad deal for a new one if you ask me.

They hold their "blue book" well...but fat chance of getting "Kelly Blue Book value". I guess since the maxima is really in its own class...it just depreciates quicker?

also you might want to add the following

1) its a buyers market with low APR's (meaning more people buy new)
2) the market is flooded with Maximas
3) too many max rentals out there as well

#1 and #2 is very correct. Nearly everyone buys new cars which is great if you plan on keeping the car. The problem is when it comes time to sell or trade in, the market is FLOODED with newer used cars therefore the dealers are going to give you less because they have to sell thier used cars for less. It's just not a Nissan thing. The whole market is this way right now.

#3 really doesn't make of a difference.

Another problem is that the Maxima is a bit of a lameduck right now because it's an old chassis and it's the last model year. Most of the buying public has been choosing the better looking Altima over the Maxima. Style is everything these days. People love the new Altima and I think many are waiting to see if the new Maxima will offer the same kind of style in a bigger package.
