Another Track Day---New Personal Best!
Hit the track again this afternoon at DeSoto in Bradenton, FL. Perfect track day! Sunny and very cool, about 53 F! Traction at the strip was the best Ive ever seen it. (DeSoto is known for very poor track prep).
Anyway, I set a new personal best in Mad Max.
I didnt change anything from any past runs, still just the Cattman Y-pipe and the CAI. I ran 20 psi in the stock 17" Potenzas with the stock wheels. All shifts were made a millisecond before hitting the rev limiter. I hammered the crap outta this car today and it worked like a charm
R/T 0.625
60' 2.136
330' 6.041
1/8 9.254
mph 75.82
1000' 12.049
1/4 14.380
mph 96.62
After running, I weighed in at just short of 3400 lb with me in it. Too bad this car is so damn heavy!
Ill take a digital photo of the timeslip and post the address a bit later.
Mad Max is now officially retired

Damn you almost hit 13's with stock's and just Y-pipe and CAI. :o)
I wonder what you could do with a S/C.
I need to go out and run mine, so what you are saying is shift before the limiter, and take down the pressure in tires to 20PSI, if it works for you I hope it works for the rest of us?

As far as a S/C, Ill let someone else figure that out. I dont have any further mods planned for this car. Mad Max is retired from any further beatings.

I Hate Drag Racing...
So, i took the ol maxine out to the track last night. $15 to run from 6pm-midnight. As many runs as they can get. There's probably 50 cars out there including the guys who spent way too much money on a car that only goes fast in a straight line...
I got there at 8.30pm in the line. 10.30pm i got my first run. I hate drag racing.
I launch at 3500rpm... i do a virtual standing burnout, i get off the gas again, get back on it, it sticks a bit better 2.8xx 60', YES. Shift into second. everything is going good, pass the 660. i miss third. get into third finally. and watch the TA i was racing do a 13.3x@103mph. I get off and BRAKE pretty hard. I brake through the lights at a 17.70@51mph. YES! I rock! I hate drag racing.
My time still beat some 4 dr 4cyl accord out there though. I hate drag racing.
Next time, i bring my CRX out there, and do 7 burnouts back-to-back... pull into the box, burn out, reverse back into the box, burnout, reverse back into the box, burnout....4 more times and i pull up to the light. Light turns green and I start in second purposely. 4.5sec 60', YES! 16.xx@18mph 660'...even better! 24@21mph! That's the time i'm going for. I hate drag racing.
