But our can be made on our own if you put your mind to it and read some of the how-tos on it.

Also one thing I cannot get anyone to give me a full answer on is HOW are these mounted/held to the assembly itself? Are they bracketed? Are they glued down from the back?

As IceY2K1 mentioned... QUALITY FIRST. If the Maxima kit looks like a DIY job, I'd rather do it myself.

That's what I thought!

I knew there was interest! However, the IS3 guys had 18+ pages in one thread and 15 and growing in another. I'm not real crazy about cracking the housing seal for just removing the amber reflector, but for these and the amber reflector, I say F-it.

Ok, this is just a thread to see what kind of interest there STILL is, since as Dixit mentioned, this was attempted before here at Maxima.org. HOWEVER, some morons flamed the guy by comparing some POS looking kit that cost "20-dolla", so he went to IS300.NET board and it seems they were pretty willing to help. Yes, you can probably ghetto rig some LED rings and have a somewhat similar look, but I've NEVER seen something like those IS300s. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN MAKE THESE FOR CHEAPER AND WITH THE SAME QUALITY, THEN DO IT AND SELL THEM HERE!!!! Otherwise, STFU! Sorry, but we should HELP with aftermarket parts NOT bash them. The IS300 guys are receiving theirs next week, I think, so I will be watching how they like them. This sounds like the BEST route to me.

I would estimate as long as ours is similar in difficulty and materials required these would run from $180-$250 as the IS300s were. The $180 price was for people who anted up $50 to get things developed upfront, otherwise $250-280. There are some "optional" blue rings you can buy for $15 or get both yellow and blue(8-rings) for $30.

Keep up the enthusiasm, because I think these would be HOT! Now I just need someone to make me some "eyebrows" in Carbon Fiber.

Alex,

Sometimes people are real tight and "know-it-alls" on this board. But have you seen someone do it other than the one gentleman with the 3rd gen?

I have to ask some questions:
1) how are the "eyes" mounted on the projectors?
2) Are there any laws related to these lights? I know BMW comes factory and I would request a "white" light but am wary of attracting undo attention.
3) What power source? Alternate switch or off parking light system?

Re: Re: That's what I thought!

did everyone already forget the reason i was doing the poll awhile back.
i'm already working with the distributor.
i'm sending him an extra headlight for free so that we can have a physical demo to work with.
we've been discussing this for some time now.
the thread is
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=fiber+angel

i'll update everyone as soon as the first demo is released. i'm also working on a group price. we will not pay 250-280, but do expect in the 200 range.
and yes, these are the DDE's, the fiber optic kit. not the ghetto LED version. and yes, i'm working with the same distributor, his name is UMNITZA. that is also his ORG name.

VERY, VERY, VERY, interested. Now, all we need is someone that's good at removing/replacing the housing to clear out the blinker, install the angel eye's and paint the housing black (optional), for a charge. Maybe, someone does it, charges a core charge, sends us the completed unit and we send them back our stocks for the next swap. That way, we don't have dozens of people screwing up their housings, and someone can make some money off of this stuff.

i've already painted my housing and cleared out the blinker and even dremeled out the parking light. that is not the way to go though, so i'm going to find that lens that another .ORG member had found that matched perfectly with the parking light lens.

as far as core charges, since i will be the first one to have these, i don't think i'll mind starting up a project like this. most likely this whole "job" will consist of angel eyeing, replaced blinker with clear lens, and painting (choice of color) of the housing. keep in mind that those that want to add strobes will also have to keep this in mind while the headlights are open.

Yes, I want some angel eyes or demon eyes or whatever you call them. I want them. High quality fiber, and if you could change the color like some of those BMW kits, that would be nice too!

Are you going to be collecting front money like they did with the IS300 guys? If so, I would be willing to put up whatever is reasonable.

actually, the setup will be almost exactly as the IS300 guys. we're gonna start off with $50 deposit to get things started off and then collect the rest (still unknown as new clips are being shaped and new rings are being done)

but this will still take some time, as it's still in the testing phase. only when it's done, will the final product be shown and then all information regarding costs and etc... will be discussed.

one more picture is here...
High Beam and Low Beam Lit Up

I TOLD YOU IT WOULD BE DONE...WOOO HOOOO I FEEL SPECIAL

as for the people scared to DIY, if you're in or near NY, i will do it. for a fee of course, but i will do it. if you wanna save money though, i'm thinking of doing a complete write up and you really have nothing to worry about, it's really not that hard at all to open up our lights, but i do understand how people can be scared to, so for now just wait until the final pictures are released. remember, these are only sneak peaks.

Looks great man. Are you bending the rod to go through and out the back of the housing, so the lights can be replaced easily? That was always my thought when looking at the do-it-yourselfers trying to figure out how to replace the bulb when it goes, without ripping the housing apart every time.

these aren't led demon eyes
these are fiber optic kits
a fiber wire runs through the ring into a box located outside of the housing. this "light box" contains the 35 watt bulb that lights up the wire. as you know, fiber optics hold a lot of light, so it can travel pretty far and still hold the light power. if the light blows, you dont' have to open the housing. open the light box, and replace the bulb. i'll have pictures of the light box taken so you can understand more.
this is much more sophisticated than LED kits.
