An interesting evening......DOH!

Well...jumping on the $160 dollar Budget y-pipe like a pitbull on crack, I placed my order.

My order was taken, and the item arrived sooner than I could tell my wife I bought it. After about 1000 "yes dear", "Its not as expensive as the other maxima stuff dear" and "I'm sorry honeys", I set aside some time to install it.

Reading up, I whipped out my jackstands, cleared out some space in the garage and went to work. CLP-Breakfree in hand...I lubed up my bolts. I pulled off my plastic shrouds, since I knew it would take some time. I even broke a cheap socket on one of the bolts. So, I decided to let the CLP penetrate and massage my knuckles.

So I go to open up my Y-pipe and alarms start going off. Wow, that 2nd pipe is straight...shouldn't it be bent? So panic ensues! Is my car Cali-Spec? NFW! I whip out the Chiltons, surf and surf. No, my car is fed spec. I check my invoice, it says 2000 Maxima Fed Spec.

I take off the protective heat shield to reveal two ugly pre-cats. I count 0-2 sensors and notice I'm fed spec all the way. Sure enough, Budget sent me a Y-pipe for a 4th Gen instead of a 5th! I went to their page and confirmed. Whew!

GOOD GOD! Thank god I didn't have the factory all the way off. Oh well....its probobly a good thing I didn't go any farther. I noticed I'll need some swivel head action to get the factory pipe off from the rear exhaust manifold anyhow.

Hey, I broke a Craftsman 14mm socket taking my stock pipe off and putting in it's place a warpspeed Y. I had to take it to the local Merlins and have him loosen the 2 remaining bolts for me-only $10 cash. Good luck!

So you have a Warpspeed Y-Pipe. Di dyou do the B pipe (resonator or not?).

How is the performance and is there a noise increase?

I am thinking of adding a Y and B pipe to my 2KSE 5 speed.

Thanks,

Jack
