LOOK INSIDEfor part# to rid yourself of wind noise...

I had terrible wind noise coming from the rear driver-side window on my 2k2 Max. Here is the PART# I had to wait for:

qty. 2

PART# 80338.2W100 (as far as I can read from the stupid handwriting)

descrition: TAPE

C/S NY

Loc. 67N

After the dealer installed the part, the wind noise was completely eliminated.

Enjoy,
G

would I order this from the dealer??? Also it seems like a DIY job b/c I don't trust the dealer which will probably scratch the crap out of my tint. Let me know Matt

Thanks for the info. How long did it take the dealer to do it?
You think they would order the part and let you do it yourself?

Where was the tape placed to get rid of the wind noise.

brentb 12-10-2002 06:31 AM

where do they put the tape? I would love to know where is goes and how it looks before I have the dealer do this.

You can just read the tsb and do it yourself or take it to the dealer for them to do it, it's all in the tsb.

I noticed that the noise was coming from the little metal bracket in the rear window frame (that piece that between the moving window & the small static window)

If I push hard on the inside, the noise goes away. It's about an hour's worth of work at the dealer. I dunno if you can do it yourself, cause I don't know exactly where the tape goes.

I posted this so you can show the dealer the part#, if they claim they can't fix it for you. But if the noise is coming from somewhere else... good luck!

What's this I hear about the 2k3 Maximas & their "TRIPLE-SEALED" doors? Are the door seals different than the older Maximas?... or is this another Nissan BS marketing scheme?

I'm lazy can we get a link to the TSB? I would like to do the fix myself, I try to stay away from the service dept. as much as possible. ;)

This really sounds like the old TSB that has been out since last summer. When did this come out?

NikaL 12-10-2002 12:59 PM

Thanks for the info on the part #. Do you remember what it cost you? Wonder if it'll work for 2K SE. My wind noise seems to originate from the rear passenger side.

looks like they just took foam double sided tape and then reinstalled the rubber seal. don't think you need special nissan parts to do it.
