A few more basic questions.....

Sorry if I am being repetative, but I read all of the FAQs and TSB threads and I have a few more questions:

1) What exactly is a TSB? Is this an internal Nissan communication? Is it a recall that was communicated to the customer? How does one go about utilizing a TSB? Do you just call the dealer and say I need my fuel cut off TSB fixed, when can I come in?

2) I just bought a 00 SE and noticed a few things - it shimmies a little bit when braking at high speeds, its hard to take off in first gear, and there seems to be excessive wind noise. When reading the TSBs, I see that there should be a fix for all of this. My question is this - the car has 31,000 miles on it, and I drive almost 4K per month, so I'll need to act quickly. What else should I be concerned about? What other issues might come up that I could be proactive and look for?

Thanks in advance!

Technical Service Bulletin. All manufactures have them. It's like a recall but it's usually not safety related, and something most people wouldn't notice or have a problem with. They are not required to notify the public. If the dealer knows about it, they will cover it. If they don't and you provide them with the TSB, they usually will cover it, especially if your under mileage.

Use the search to find other issues. If you're concerned about TSBs, get all that pertain to your vehicle and take it in before 36k. You will need to get all problems in writing before 36k so that if you go over, you have proof that it was happening before your warranty was up. Good luck.

I believe you print out the TSB and bring it with you when you go to the dealership. That should eliminate any BS from the dealership as far as trying to get out of doing work on your car. I haven't utilized one yet, so I'm sure some people here who have used it have more detailed info for you. But that's the basic gist of how it's used.

It's not quite a recall, but similar. A recall affects all cars, and all cars should come in and get the work done. With a TSB, you only come in you're experiencing that issue. Also, I think a recall is usually safety related, but a TSB can be anything else. This is the definition off the top of my head, so I don't know if there are any other differences between the two.

Is there a link to the TSB for my car? I looked in the TSB thread and there was a link, but it didn't work. There was another one that did work, but it was only for CA spec 01s.
