Factory Sub Boxes

I have a 2000 and am thinking of adding a sub and amp to the stereo in hopes of getting XM radio. I need precious trunk space for my newborn's "travel system" so I am looking for sub boxes that might fit in the rear driver side of trunk or that might hang from the rear deck. Any suggestions or pics from anyone. Baby needs to ROCK!

Only way to get good bass but not take up too much space is most likely the Infinity Basslink. Or you can always do a better sub instead of the bose and put a nice 10" freeair with an amp.

the CDT MS-80 or the MS-100. they are on sale right now just about everywhere, and they are some really good subs. the only thing is you'll have to build a box for them. they require very little space, very little power, and have a small mounting depth, ideal for bring the sub to the front of the car.

Lose the spare tire altogether and custom fabricate a fiberglass enclosure out of the tire well.

Bazookas too. I know, I know, a lot of people don't like them, but mine have been great since 1994 and have been in 3 different cars. I'd get two 8" Bazookas, one powered and the other slave. They're not that big, and can be easily moved.

You'll just have to cut a hole in the rear deck to 'let the bass out'. Otherwise you'll have to go oversized on the subs.

Also, don't remove the spare. You never know when you need it, and you don't wanna be stranded with the baby and his travel system.

I'm not sure who, maybe it was "suds" who had a company pull out the plate from the bose sub. They mounted a small light weight box to that plate. And installed a much better 8" sub. if done right, a new 8" can still hit really hard. Its not going to turn any heads 2 blocks away, but it should be able to accurately reproduce 98% of the music out there at a reasonable volume.

I have XM, and really its only nominally better than a very clean FM signal. Check out ClubXM. Some people have done some tests on the signals for XM and Sirius and what the real freq range is. Its not really CD quality, or even that close. Due to the compression, its really more like 96-128K mp3. (128K mp3 never sounds like 'CD-quality to me) I really dont complain about the because the programming seriously kicks a$$ and in the car environment, I cant say I really notice. Given that, you arent really going to trying to hit 20hz with sat radio.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm planning on building a box based on a few I've seen on the 'net that will hang from the rear deck support frame. I can't remember whose pics they were but they had an interesting place for the amp attached to the rear trunk quarter panel instead of under a seat. Never thought of that. I'll work with some "dash-smashers" to get it done.
