All,
I was reviewing a 3.0 turbo kit they made for a Mitusbishi motors vehicle and inquired about a similar kit for our FWD 3.0 5th Gens. This was the response I recieved, which was quite positive. Any IOWA Maxima members?

E-mail:

Hi Sean,

Sorry for such a delayed response – we aren’t usually this slow to get back to interested customers. We’re working on a new shop and some new products, so things have been hectic!

We would be happy to look into this vehicle/engine – our kit would probably run around $3k also, and it’s likely it’ll be a supercharger. Aftermarket turbochargers for V6s work well, but are high-maintenance. If this is of interest, see what you group thinks about us doing a supercharger system.

We’d need a test vehicle if possible… if you know of anyone in your group that lives in Iowa, please direct them towards us. We could begin development early January if there is a good deal of interest.

Thanks,

-Chris

Subject: Turbo Products

I noticed you make aftermarket turbo kits for later model 3.0L v6s. Any thoughts given to making them for the VQ series of engines from Nissan for 3.0L or 3.5L applications (Maxima, Pathfinder or Altima)? If you made a Maxima kit, you wouldn't be able to make enough of them. Currently, the only aftermarket product available for the VQ series for us Maximas is the Still superchargers (3k dollars). There are a tremendous number of VQ3.0 engines out there. Maxima has been one the top selling 4 door midsize vehicles. However, there is a big aftermarket demand for the Maxima with relatively small number of performance parts. To date, there are no aftermarket turbo kits available for the Maxima.

Thanks. Drop in and read up on the community.

You have a 3.5 and I think he was talking about the 3.0 I'm in the area, but I don't really have the luxury of having my car out of commission right now.

Why not see if they can do a 3.5 also

And the place is located just north of Des Moines.

Just an FYI. Maxstilln, the gentleman who orchestrated some previous deals for the .org (Big brakes, etc) has left messages. I'm still looking for someone to drop in on them in person. Maxstilln has a show car he could drop off though.

No .org field agents in Iowa?

Chris, the owner of X-tech is a great guy-you can check out his story about FI on the Eclipse at my site www.eclipseforums.org Go to the GT/GTS specific performance section in the FI sub-forum, there you can read about him. I am a mod over there, so I suggest you search before asking silly questions

Edit: an addendum, another compay to look for for FI, http://rippmods.com/ they have made blowers for about 30 or so of the new Eclipses, very reliable-and proven.

Thanks for the kind words Sam

We are defiantly interested in building something for you guys; from what I've been reading the last couple days on here it looks like you really need an affordable power source!

If we can get someone here with their vehicle, we'll take a look and analyze the situation from there. It's likely it'll need just the bare necessities to get 5-6 psi.

The first couple kits would be more of a prototype; once we've found they are working well on our customers cars, we'll proceed to jump the hoops for CARB certification. We'll need someone in Cali to help us with this.

Our phone number is: 515-233-2554 - if someone is in Iowa please drop us a line. We'll be out from Monday of next week until Friday.

We hope to have our dyno towards the end of Jan, early February so we can really get these cars moving.

As soon as we have a car in the shop for a couple days and can get an idea of what we'll need, we should have a price for everyone. We'll probably have a 10 unit initial purchase so we can secure deals with the vendors we use.

If you have other questions please email me.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

-Chris

Sounds good! I hope you can look to a 3.0L solution in addition to the 3.5 of the current generations.

I'll be keeping tabs on this to see how it goes.
