Review - Cattman Y-pipe, Greddy Evo Cat back & Stillen Intake
Hey Guys,
I finally got the cattman y-pipe installed this past weekend and all i can say is that I'm impressed. There are quite a few issues to discuss so let me start with the fitment. btw I have a 2K1 5spd Cali Spec.
Fitment- The new cattman is definitely of awesome quality with a longer flex section than the Gen 1 pipe. The only problem I encountered was that the front flange didn't align perfectly, so I had to put a smaller bolt, but the pipe does fit like a glove and the shop that installed it did an awesome job. Took them about 2hrs to install it (1/2hr more than expected as they had to go buy a smaller bolt). But overall I'm really impressed with the quality and fitment. Also, one thing I need to mention is that Brians customer service is awesome...
Noise- As I have the Greddy Evo and Stillen Intake, I was really nervous that it would be extremely loud...but when I heard the sound, I couldn't stop smiling....it was just GREAT. w/o the y-pipe the Greddy wasn't loud at all and right now it sounds really deep and throaty ...just what I wanted. It's not as loud as a Honda, just perfect...I/M/O even though I know there are a lot of people that may differ...Before at highway speeds you couldn't hear the Greddy, but now there is noise inside the cabin...but I don't mind it...
Performance- It's crazy...The car just pulls like crazy to the extent when I floored it from around 10mph speed in first gear, the wheels spun like crazy (not wheel hop)...I haven't been able to fully experience the performance gains due to the cold roads and wet weather in MI, but the car definitely feels a lot more responsive and powerful.
I would definitely recommend the cattman pipe, but as a lot of ppl have mentioned, go with the y-pipe before the catback, as it will get loud and some may not like it...
Sorry for such a long post, but I wanted to put my opinion on the board in case there are others like me who may want all three issues addressed and that's why I put the suject title so it will come up in the search...btw thanks to Y2KSteve for his help and audio clips...
