I installed it on Friday AM and then took the car to the dealer to have the tranverse link recall completed. On Saturday I noticed that when I put the car in reverse and had my foot on the brake, the car made this grinding sound. I though this was related to the service work...but today, after they researched the problem, its the engine hitting the FSTB when I put it in reverse. When the car is off there is clearance, but not enough when the car is put in reverse.

Anyone having this problem with their Ebay bar?

Im ****ed because I paid $80 to find out that my $25 bar was crap.

Did you install the washers?

That looks exactly like Southwest bar and Bomz

 

It didn't come with washers. If I add some, will that move it up enough to not have a problem? If, so how many washers on each bolt?

 

Stillen's does the same thing. I just live with it. It won't cause any damage and you don't here it if you take it slow like reverse was meant to be driven. There is a writup somewhere on how to shave your engine or your bar down just a tad to prevent the noise, but it's not worth the effort.

Always, come here first to get answers to your problems! Only exception is if your stranded and can't get to a computer. You will pretty much find out what your problem is here.

 

My bar looks exactly like that and no problem.

The actual bar location can be fine tuned by pivoting it about the bolts that thread into its end. That's how I got the clearance needed.

 

Good idea! You could use a couple washers on each bolt if necessary.

 

try to extend the bar a bit, until the bar is not touching the throttle body, then u r fine =)

p.s Autobacs sucks, u can tell by their ratings....lots of wrong items...i dont suggest u to buy stuff from them next time!

Thanks for the all the info....yes, I should have checked here first! It was the the fact that they had worked on the engine the same day that I thought for sure it was something they had screwed up.
