FYI - Grille-Tech rusts like an iron nail

Don't know why I didn't think of this before I bought it, but my Grille-Tech grille inserts are rusting like a beotch. I promptly removed them. Just a warning for salty-road drivers who are considering Grille-Tech.

On another note, there is an Altima with the black inserts in the parking lot that look okay, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it eats through the paint.

I've always felt the long-term durability was questionable. Luckily they're relatively inexpensive.

Coincidently, I'm planning on re-painting mine so that they are more noticeable. I (now) might look into some sort of protective coating as well...

I bought the lower grill for my max. No problems yet...

Thanks for the info! By living in Hawaii, I'm surrounded by salt water!!! I guess the grills aren't made from aluminum or anything. Oh well... next mod!

I removed mine recentlt and switched to diamond cut ones.. No rusting.. and I had them for quite a while..

hmmm...my grille tech is still fine after 15k miles. But no salt where I'm at. My JMS grille is aluminum and coated, so it should be fine. Just put the puppy on today....love it.

don't they have some kind of Rustoleum Rust Guard spray or something you can spray on them? Looks like it's in a spray paint can.. ?

Wouldn't that be good to spray on it as a protectant?

Hey pmas76, I see that you have a set of 19 x 8.5 wheels, what is your offset ? I'm going to buy a new set of wheel soon and I want to go with 8.5 inches rim wide so I can hook up 255 or 265 in the back and 245 in the front.
