Maxima Gas Milage - NEED HELP!!!

Ok, I have been trying to ask all my friends what gas milage they are getting from their Maxima - most have 2002s. I have a new 2003, and I have not been able to manage more than 23.4 mpg. I live close to the highway, and i do highway driving mostly, and i drive it smoothly without harsh acceleration. I would like most of you to post what your average gas milage is and what company gas you buy. Again, i do believe the posted MPG for the highway was either 26 or 28, and I have not been able to get either. There is a lawsuit for Nissan Maximas lacking 15HP, now I think if people arent getting good MPG, there should be a lawsuit for false advertising. Thanks.

I think 23.4 is good for a new 2003. Prolly will go up a bit after it's been broken in more.

I average about 22-24. 50/50 city and highyay. Amoco/Standard 93 octane.

23.5 is good! Remember 3.5 liters and 255hp is not the same as a Metro

My computer says I'm getting 24.7 mpg but my calculations say that I'm only getting 21.5 mpg. Mine is a 2003 with about 2000 miles on it.

That seems about right. The computers are off by 3 or 4 mpg. Mine registers about 3 mpg high.

That sounds pretty low...city or highway? Have you done an actual check when you fill up? Mileage divided by gallons.

then sell it and find something in the same price range that offers what your maxima does.

at 17mpg, either there is something wrong with your car (unlikely) or the way you drive (likely).

2k3 with 3.5k miles: I'm averaging 16 - 17 (calculated, not trip computer). Not much highway driving, and not a whole lot of heavy-foot driving. A couple of weeks ago I was racing around for whatever reason, and averaged 14.6...

Still would rather have the HP than the mileage though.

Re: Re: If that is the case i am getting 17 MPG

When I first got the Maxima, my average was at 25. I thought since maybe it was new its low, but it will get higher when I driver highway. Every since then is just kept getting low. I had the chance of getting a TL type S, but I got the Maxima instead. I am happy tht I got the maxima, but I fill up full on 93 always but I dont get the MPG as stated by Nissan. That is what i am ****ed off about. Also, who knows if it is 255 HP. If you dont know, some people at Maxima.org are doing a lawsuit for missing 15 hp. That makes me even more mad to know I didnt get what I paid for. This is total BS. I think we should all try to get what we paid for somehow. It is truly false advertising. If I paid for a 255HP maxima, I dont want it to preform like a 240HP altima. Thats insane. I really appreciate you all posting. What do you all think?

I average about 22~24 with 30% highway and 70% local on my 2k2 w/ 6spd. Moderate to slow acceleration.
