How do I post pictures?
I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer
- Go to your homepage
- Scroll to the image you wish to display
- Right click and go to Properties
- Copy the Address (URL) value
In this case: http://images.cardomain.com/install.../131181_186.jpg
- Click Cancel to get out of the menu
- Come back to http://forums.maxima.org
- Enter (get rid of the '.' in both of the brackets)
[.img]Paste_the_URL_you_copied_into_here[./img]

i.e. [.img]http://images.cardomain.com/installs/131000-131999/131181_186.jpg[./img]

Good Thing!

You didn't sell your 2k2 tails! I guess they will come in handy! Sorry about your loss, I wish someone would do that to my car!

11k sounds pretty steep. Is it all the freight to get stuff there?
How many places have you been to or is that your buddies price to the ins co.

Well, I was in stopped in traffic but I guess the guy behind me wasn't paying attention so he slammed into me. I'm guessing he was going about 30 or so. Since it was a full size domestic pickup, it pushed me into the full size domestic SUV in front of me that just so happened to have a footlong tow hitch sticking out the back. You can probably figure what happened next.

Yeah, I guess the HIDs are pretty strong. The whole thing still works except the plastic brackets that hold the light to the radiator support busted off. Someone is already offering me money for it.

Yeah I still got'um but I think I'm still gonna get the 2k1 style. I really don't care for the 2k2 chrome ones.

It's my friends regular price to the insurance co. He's not jacking it up or anything. I guess it seems steep, but considering the HID alone costs over $700 and I gotta get new bumpers, new trunk lid, new trunk floor, new rear quarter panel, paint practically everything except the doors and hood, it actually is about right.

At least my insurance co isn't paying for it.

Chit take the 11k+ check and trade the car in as is and get a new car!
You may even be able to get more out of the their ins co. 11k is almost 1/2 the value of a new Max.

How exactly does this work? I would need to get AT LEAST $13-16K for the trade in. Do dealers/people actually do this (besides someone that does autobody for a living)?

Not sure how it will work but what does it hurt to try worst they could say is no. I don't know how sales are there but new sales suck here. Take the car to a dealer tell'em you've got 8k cash and start dealing. If you get the slightest intrest take the car home take your a/market stuff off and go back and get an 03. This time of year there is no telling what a dealer will do to move a car by the 31st.

Go to the parts department...

You've got about $40,000 worth

See if you can return one part at a time and say "Ummm, I forgot my receipt again"

I'm sorry to see what happened to your car, important thing is that you are ok!

be sure to let the body shop know you want to keep the damaged HIDs. when i hit a deer back in april the same thing happened to both of my HIDs; they worked just fine but the plastic tabs had snapped off. i told the shop i wanted them but when the car was done 5 weeks later they had already trashed them.

this was $12,000 in damage just for reference.

Trashed them??? Something tells me that a body shop of all places knows what they are worth and perhaps grabbed the HIDs for themselves!

Well now you can get a good paint job that doesn't chip. At least some clear coat.

i was on my way home from school and hit the deer at about 70 mph. the damage was pretty tame compared to what i thought it should have been.

i hit the deer 60 miles from home and i had to get towed so keeping the deer wasnt an option.
