i was driving tonight and it said 38 degrees. then it said in the top right corner of the screen "ice". does that mean it can possibly be icy on the roads or what? i live in north-central fl and it really surprised me to see this.

 

I have a Ford Excurtion that shows that when it may be cold enought for ice...that's it. Quite a contrast to drive a 4 wheel drive V10 Excurtion to my lower 2000 Max.

 

It seems the 'ICEY' sensor is triggered by the temperature. I live in Wis. and mine is on just about every day. Mine seems to go on at or below 37 degrees.

Kinda gets annoying, cause it's only based on the temp. and not actual conditions. It would be great if they could have figured a way to figure moisture/precip into the unit, so it comes on when it IS icey, not just when the temp drops.

But I suppose better safe than sorry....

 

Thats funny, our BMW alerts you at 37 deg. as well. Wonder why that specific temp is used?

 

i believe thats when ice can start to form. i know it cant snow at 37 but it can get icy.

the "icy" comes on when the temperature reaches 37 degrees or lower and will stay on until the temperature exceeds 39 degrees.

I do find it a little strange that they 5 degrees F above freezing. Maybe they figure that it's possible the temp was below that an ice may have formed and not melted...
