tranny/engine issues in reverse?

hey all, i noticed a few days ago that when i use the gas to back up, my engine makes a really weird noise. The engine seems to be pushing against the parking brake or something and you can feel a difference in the transmission. Hard to describe, but definately not the way it should be. Anyone heard of this? I noticed it after I put on a FSTB, but I don't think that would have anything to do with it.

2k2 or 2k3? Intake Manifold is possibly hitting the FSTB. When the engine is cool (FSTB will be hot if the engine is hot) reach underneath the FSTB and feel for rough spots around where the intake manifold could possibly hit the bar. I had the same problem and had big scratches underneath my FSTB. I removed it, polished down the scratches, shaved off the highest points of the intake manifold, and then reinstalled the FSTB. All is good now.

Definitely the intake manifold hitting the FSTB.

or as per suggestion from another org member that i got, go buy 18 3/8 washers from home depot. put 3 under each bolt of the FSTB and then reattach the strut bar. this did the trick for me.

Your engine rocks on its motor mounts just enough in reverse to hit the bar. In drive, it's the opposite direction.
