Navigation System

Does anyone know if this can be done?

I have a 2002 maxima with the Bose in dash 6 disc changer and want to switch it out to the factory navigation system and Bose deck with the cd changer in the trunk? I can get the parts easily enough, I just don't know how much of a hassle it will be to swap, or if it can be done. Tried searching but had no luck, any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you get the factory nav, you dont need the factory bose deck anymore. This is not going to be cheap. We talking over $2800 for the nav unit along not counting the wiring for the gps antenna.

Dont bother and go with aftermarket system for that price. You can get all the stuff and a 12disc changer under that price.

I know I can get a very good "aftermarket" one, but I don't really want to give up the steering wheel mounted radio controls, and my wife works for a high end car stereo shop in Dallas, so which ever way I go, I will probably only pay cost.

You dont have to give up the steering wheel controls with ANY aftermarket audio. PAC makes a converter that allows you to program any button off a remote control from an aftermarket unit to the buttons of the steering wheel controls. Cost if like $69 or so. Crutchfield sells them.

Hey, Don't spend $2800 to get Nav system in one car, Get a Toshiba Wireless PDA
http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0...?tag=pdtl-list
for $450 then get a GPS system ( they have mail-in rebate for $100)
http://www.teletype.com/pages/gps.html
for $250 --- and no monthly subscription fee (GPS is provided by US Gov, no subscription fee needed) with voice navigation system

Total $800, you can have Nav system for all your Cars and also a Multimedia PC in your hand ..... Why go for stock Nav ???????

Thanks, I didn't know about the converter, that will do! I'll let you know what I decide to go with. I will be changing all my speakers to MB Quarts and then probably a Rockford Fosgate amp and sub set up, then it is just a matter of what Nav/DVD/LCD will go in the dash.
