245 would virtually fit or can be made to fit the factory wheels. However, you will be running it out of spec. It's much better to get 225, although I've seen ppl with 235 on their stock rims and they never complained about it.

235/50 r17 is the only acceptable choice of the three.

That is just the side wall ratio. Can you back up your answer?

Yes. The wheel and tire manufacturer sets the standards. On a 7" rim, the 45 series is out of spec, but the 50 series is within spec for a 235mm wide.

Please do a search since this topic has been discussed many times and I believe it has been added to frequently asked questions.

Right on both counts. My advice is to remain in-spec if at all possible. That may or may not be possible depending upon your tire choice. But it's an absolute certainty if you're considering Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's.

You and I have discussed this issue in the past. Go to Page 5 of the FAQs and look up your tire sizes on the Tire & Rim Association Contour (Rim Width) charts if you want to know whether they're in-spec or out-of-spec for your rims.

Are you of French descent by any chance?

Only asking because Michelin in French is pronounced just like you wrote it...sort of like 'mich-lan'
