2k1 Max vs. 2002 Lincoln LS V8

Ran into a fixed up one (Intake and Exhaust). I had no idea what kinda car it was before we raced. We ran 4 times. The Max came out ahead by 1/2 car in a 2 block race. I thought it was a V6, but when I let him pass me, I saw the V8 emblem in the back of the car. After I saw the specs, I was very surprised that he didn't walk right by me...

2002 Lincoln LS:
Base Engine Size: 3.9 liters
Base Engine Type: V8
Horsepower: 252 hp
Max Horsepower: 6100 rpm
Torque: 261 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 4300 rpm
Drive Type: RWD
Weight: 3734 lbs.

Has anyone else raced one of these?

Those suckas are heavy as well. That's probably why he couldn't pull on you. But I bet if you guys raced downhill he would win

Other than Mustangs and GM's (Camaros and Firebirds), would you care to elaborate on where this is the case? I cannot think of another group of vehicles where those engine choices exist AND the demographics of the market for said vehicle would be inclined to play badge swap.

BIG freakin cash. I just read a review on it and the loaded one, with a V8 and all the goodies, is in the mid to upper $40K's. That's some serious coin. Or else it's the 04 that'll cost that much but I think it's the 03, whichever just got redesigned. The low-end ones new are going for like mid to upper 30's I believe, and that's with a V6.

they are very nice, test drove one the other day, car takes off a lot smoother than previous models, and it has a lot of power, big improvement in this yrs. model IMO... still not worth the $$ though

I traded my 01 Avalon for 03 Maxima. The Avalon is slower than the Maxima. Avalon has a 210 HP 3.0 engine and it is the same engine as ES300, RX300, and Highlander.

Gee tary44... thx 4 the vote of confidence
Is it that doubtful that a 2k1 Max can take this LS V8? If you look at the spec for the V6 version, I woulda smoked it!
So in this respect... should I put a V8 emblem on my Max??? hehe

I think Sam03 meant that GLE02NJ missed YOUR point
He quoted your message, then he quoted GLE02NJ's message and said what he said to GLE02NJ, not you.

At least that's how I read it.

Hey guy, I think we can spank most of any v8 out there. But make sure you have some mods to back you up in case they tried to outrun you. Ha..Ha

Huh? Most V8's? In what vehicles?

Good luck 'spanking' ANY LS1 GM, recent Mustang GT's (let alone Cobra's), supercharged Ford F150's, GS430's, BMW's, Mercedes, etc.

What is this list of spankable V8's made of?

I think (hope) me meant V8's in respect to the Lincoln LS. The Max can hang with the V8 sport sedans, but not necessarily beat all, if any them. (how do you compare the Max to a V8 pickup

BTW, I think the LS is too underpowered. If they put the Mustang's 4.6 in there, especially the cobra, that would be a hot car. A 4 door luxury car with *****, something that the American carmakers have not produced, especially if they want to compete with the rest of the world. The Lincoln LS is rear wheel drive, just as the 5 series, Lex GS, etc. (I think the Caddy Seville is front drive, still is a hot car)

The Benz's and Bimmers are popular with badge swaps, switching the 528 to a 540, or clk320 to 430. Lexus GS300 to the 430. Demographics? you'd be suprised how many young kids around Brooklyn are driving $50k plus cars.

I got whooped up by a Mercedes E430 the other night ... I don't think that was an emblem swap, it was the real deal hehe

I remember racing one BMW 3 series. I know it was a 325 or 328, but he had the M3 emblem on the back.

V8 in f-150 is a killa

I raced one of these f-150. When we started of the line i did not know how big are the ball's in this truck... He smoked good. I just wanna say that it was just to fast for the truck... And the sound of his supercharger was way to sweet..

the f-150 lightning is a nice truck, and so is the H/D edition. was looking to buy one a couple of months back. as far as racing v8's. i would suggest not doing it, unless you have forced induction of some sort. there is a reason why cops drive crown vics. and here in hawaii they drive the 93-96 impala ss. a very nice very fast big car. it will make you look like a nissan sunny.

Those impala's were bad a$$ cars. The newer impala's that the cops use now are
