Well that's a toss up.... But I'd probably go with the wrx for the fact that there are a lot more mods for it and it's way easier to get that care to low 13's, 12's rather then the max... But if I wanted a ride to pimp in the Max would definitely be the one

I DID consider the WRX before getting my Maxima.

If you're into modding the car for performance, the WRX is the way to go as I've seen several that run 12s.

But if you want a car that's good for cruising around as well as having good performance then a 6sp Maxima is a GREAT way to go.

Just keep in mind that some options on the Max are not avail on the WRX (i.e.: leather interior, sunroof, Navi, 6sp tranny) not the least of all is interior room.

Peace.

What does a stock WRX do in the quarter mile compared to a 6-spd Maxima???

They're about equal STOCK; anywhere between 14.1-14.4 (driver dependent, of course)!! But with the turbo setup on the WRX, a boost controller is all you need to run in the mid-13s.

Yes they are, but different target markets. The Max is huge and has ***** to boot, the WRX is small and has comparable ***** .
Max is a a luxury sport sedan, WRX is a geared towards the younger guys that only need to haul 4 people to the Burger King at lunch time.
Max will take 4 across the country faster & and in more comfort than many more expensive sedans.

Choice is up to you, which do you prefer?

Good luck!

I would go with Maxima, because of looks and performance but not 100% sure about that......

I know what you mean, but each person is different. In your place, I would go for the Max 'cause I have 2 kids + wifey. My '95 takes us everywhere in comfort and when I'm alone, I can boot the hell out of it . My next car will be either a Max or a G35 sedan for these reasons.
Now if I was younger and unmarried, the WRX would definitely interest me.

If you need AWD...go WRX...if you do anything outdoors, or in the snow especially. The traction on the maxima is horrible (cause of all the power). If you want a cheaper, smaller car, WRX...if you want a larger more comfortable car, maxima all the way (especially if you put people in the back seats)

If you already got a TL-S at home, then I would go with the WRX, since TL-S its about every aspect identical to the Maxima except for that 6spd.

WRX its probably a lot more fun to drive.

IF I WERE YOU, I'd by the WRX, since I am only 21 and these Purdue parking lot require a tight turning radius, and I can just tell you Maxima is not good with turning radius.

Since your wife already has a TL-S. I would wait for Mitsu Evo. I looks much better that WRX. But is $$$ is an issue go with WRX.
