I just saw the fisrt 2002 Altima that we built here at Nissan in Smyrna. There was a discussion a while back about who would or who wouldn't buy a new Altima when they came out. From what I saw, I would do it now if they were out. Bad *** looking if I don't say so myself. It would have been even better if it had a spoiler. Sitting next to a 2000 Altima, it looked much bigger. We just started building our ET non saleable units. These puppies will sell well. Factory clears and the V6 has dual pipes exiting the rear. Couldn't tell have far up from it went but had 2 mufflers in front of the crome pipes.

Uh huh, and if you really work there you would be able to tell us more info than what you are able to see in the pictures... lol

Bad Attitude Rus2kse

Duh, maybe I want to keep my job. Maybe you even work there yourself or another part of Nissan and are a spy. Anyway, I am tired of your negative attitude toward me. You shouldn't be allowed to post on this message board. I have emailed you with a more descriptive message. It will be all I say to you because I have lowered my standards for the last time. If any of the fellow Maxima.org feel the same as Rus2kse I will stop posting here.

As far as price on the Altima. Nothing has been disclosed to us that don't work at the Smyrna Nissan plant. My opinion is a fully loaded v6 might go for the mid 20s but thats a guess. The one I saw last night didn't have leather or sunroof. The v6 in it may not have the 240 hp as we were told previously since the new Maxima hasn't come out and they don't want to take away from the Maxima sales. If anyone else has any questions feel free to ask except for Rus2kse.

Re: Bad Attitude Rus2kse

Bad attitude? lol, ok I might have been harsh and I am sorry about that. But remember when you mentioned some info about the MAXIMA, sentra, etc. Your info was seriously FLAWED. And others as well agreed with me about that. You never came back and replied, so we figured you were full of it and ever since, that has been our assumption. I have contacts in Nissan as well, and I have been part of this BBS for 5 yrs, you what couple of months? WOW! You really think you got superiority over me saying that I should not be allowed here eh? lol

Next time, tell us stuff we don't KNOW already.

Does it look like.....

Thump,

Does the Altima you saw look anything like the rendering that was made by FreshAlloy.com.?? How is it similar or different??...I am sure a more detailed description doesn't make you a spy...so how about it?

Thanks

Speed

I'll trade

if the Altima is how freshalloy.com describes it, I'll trade in for it. I'll wait mid-year, so the bugs are worked out.

Yea...

I turned down a brand new 2001 limited edition altima, because it was just lacking power and the car did not feel as solid as other cars I have driven. I opted for a used 96 taurus lx which beats out the altima in everything except reliability. So far nothing has gone wrong, and the price diff was 5k. If nissan wants the altima to compete with the accord, camery, and taurus, it needs to offer a v6 and make it a little bigger and more solid. Thatz why my dad, bought a maxima for himself. I hope nissan makes this one a winner.

Altima

I have been here 7 months and posting the whole time, not a lot though. This board inspired me to get a Y-Pipe and instake.

Rus, you just noticed me a couple of months ago when you thought the information that we were given at the factory was as you call it flawed. The only thing flawed you commented about was the HP of the engine. I don't remember saying anything about the Senta, just the Maxima and Altima. I did respond to that message stating I only posted what we were told at the plant. I had no proof about the 240 hp engine, that is what we were told.

The Altima looks a lot like the rendering but not exactly. The back end is very much the same and from a side view similar. The 4 cylinder Altima will have a single exit on the passenger side of the car and the one I say had dual tips like the current Maxima. The interior is much bigger and sitting in it felt a bit like a Maxima but a little more room, Hard to explain why it isn't exactly the same. I am not sure if the Altima was design in Calif. The Frontier and Xterra were designed there though. They changed to designing in Calif. becasue Nissan realized that Americans had a different perspective on how a vehicle should look. They let Calif. have a hand at designing and it seems to have made a different in sales in the US. I will give more information as I dig it up because it is still hush hush. I can go into our database and see if the v6 will get a manual but didn't think about it before I left work this morning.

I have calmed down a bit after Rus' remarks so if I have offended anyone I appoligise but I was only giving the facts as we were told at the plant. Maybe they gave those 240 hp figures out to see what the Maxima owners would think and they have decided to just put in s smaller hp engine. If and when we build the Maxima, it doesn't make sense to but producing 2 engines when they would be so close. Maybe when the new Maxima is out and Dechard is actually building the v6 engines they will put the same one in each car but downsize the hp for the Altima.

Sounds pretty exciting. Are the V6 versions going to be priced like the current Maximas?

You better be right this time, Thump. I'm warming up the tar, and I'm pretty sure I heard someone plucking the feathers.

j/k

I hope the Altima isn't too close to the Max. I'd be pi$$ed if I paid this much for a car only to have it devalued 2 years later by the midrange model!

One more thing.....

Thump,

How about the interior??...the Freshalloy article says that we should expect the "best interior in the business" something that rivals VW/Audi. Did the Altima you sat in have a quality interior? (ie. nice plastics, etc).

thanks again,

Speed

Interior

I didn't like the perticular interior in this one. It was tanish brown cloth. I was more interested in the underneath of the car. I am a performance buff and was trying figure a way of opening the hood without drawing much attention.
