Finally got my Max back. THANK GOD!

I did some damage to the underside of my max last week. Backed out of a parking spot, and somehow a huge chunk of the curb was waiting under the car. Anyway, it scraped up the bottom of the car pretty good. I had the splash shield replaced and the front bumper cover refinished. Anyway, while the car was in the shop, they put me in one of the new Camrys. I had to endure that thing for FOUR days. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's an ok car compared to its American counterparts. But good lord. It felt so cheap. The steering was so loose, the "power" of the engine (*chuckle*). When I sat in my Max for the first time in four days after driving that Camry, I just had a huge smile on my face. It really made me appreiciate my wonderful car. Anyway, just wanted to say that!

Glad to see you are back in your car. I had an accidnet with my car 2 years ago. Ran it in the curb, Broke pretty much every part of the suspension/Axle on the front right. Car was in the dealer for over a month.
Insurance company gave me a Cadillac Seville .. Nice car but My car is My Car

Damn, how do some of you guys get these nice cars for rentals? Every time I needed a rental because my car was in the shop I'd get some econobox (corolla, neon, etc). Do you guys have a large daily allowance for a rental in your ins. policy?

Anyhow, glad to hear you got your car back. I think some of the big fuss makers on this board need a similar experience in order to appreciate the Max a little more!

I was wondering the same thing. My insurance company has been very generous with claims but the car rental allowance is barely enough for an economy car.

My insurance company is State Farm. I am Allowed $45 a day on a car. Enterprise Rental gave me a Ford Focus at first b/c thats the only car they had on their lot. The next day I called the guy and said, Man I went from Power everything to a Window Cranks and Smelly Interior, I need a better car then this. He called other agents, said come in 2 hours I'll have a Seville for you

I'm not sure, man. I have State Farm. Here's the really cool part. The total cost of the repair was like $60. WAY under my $500 collision deductible. They still gave me access to my rental coverage, which I was surpised at. I thought for sure you would have to have presented a claim to them. I was happy about that. The rental coverage I have is I pay 20%/day the insurance pays 80%. I can get a car from any place I choose. I could have been put in a Jag if I wanted, but I wanted to keep the cost down. The Camry ended up costing me $7/day after taxes. Not a bad deal.

You must have opted for the upgraded car rental allowance at additional cost because in my area the standard State Farm allowance is $ 16 per day.

Yes, that's probably it. I don't have State Farm, but my daily allowance is only 29.99/day. No Caddies or Infinitis in that price range.

I don't Know guys.. I have 2 cars 1 driver. Full coverage on Supra/Maxima 4 points = $1900 a year. I didn't ask for any special coverage.

I recall receiving some literature in the mail and getting a follow-up call from my SF agent last year regarding changes to the car rental provision in my policy. The 20% co-pay with a much higher allowance sounds familiar. There was an increase in the premium to cover this upgrade so I passed on it.
