Nitto 450 Extremes for Stock 17" Rims
#1
Nitto makes the NT-450 Extreme in the P225/50R17 that will be a perfect match for any stock 17" SE rim. (Hence you won't run into any speedometer variance problems) The NT-450 radials are "V" speed rated up to 149 mph and provide excellent wet weather performance and superior traction according to Nitto's website. Discount Tires sells them for $136/tire and their phone # is 1-800-916-3211. I'm getting a set installed on my maxima today. Hope this helps with the latest tire debate.

450s.....
i have them on my car, and they are cracking already. i got them fairly new with lots of tread on them. one tire already popped, and the other three are wearing down pretty quick. since they are my first set of "Aftermarket proformance tires" i didnt know what to expect. but my g/f has had different ones b4, and she noticed that these tires make lots of noise.

I can gurantee you that you won't like them. They do not grip very well at all in the wet, plus they are a bit noisy. Alot of people I know stay away from them because they have too many problems. You be better off getting a RE730, Kumhos, etc.

So how about the Nitto 555 Extremes??
Ok if yall say that the NT-450's suck and I won't like them, what is your opinion on the NT-555 Extremes? If yall think that the 555's are better I may just say what the hell and go for the P235/45R17's and not worry about the 2.625% (that is to say that when my speedometer reads 70 mph I will in fact be going 68.16 mph) variance in the speedometer readout. Please don't confuse me anymore. Just when I think I've decided on a tire purchase yall say something to cast doubt on my decision. Later.

All Nittos SUCK
I agree with the previous poster about the Bridgestone RE730. The RE730 is about 1,000 times the tire any Nitto is. Below is my post from a different thread about the 555's:
Has anyone here calling the Nitto 555 a "good performance tire" actually driven on it? They are simply terrible tires. They have very little dry grip and aquaplane easily. These are some of the only "Summer performance" tires that actually have less dry grip than the all-season Bridgestone Potenzas. This isn't just my view; ask anyone who autocrosses or races with a club and they'll tell you that Nittos are the bottom of the barrel. You simply don't see Nittos on the cars of serious performance drivers, despite their massive ad budget in trash rags like Sport Compact Car.

Re: So how about the Nitto 555 Extremes??
Maybe I should have said all Nittos.... They all have there complaints. The most complaints I have heard with any NITTO that it is terrible in rain. Have you looked at all the other brands, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Sumitoma (dunlop)? Those are really good brands...someone has got to have that size in a good tire. But get what you want man. I just warning you.

Re: So how about the Nitto 555 Extremes??
I have the 235/45/17 Nitto 555's on my car... they handle great (I love how I no longer have to slow down for turns). Only complaint: the ride's a bit stiff. But they were a good compromise of price, performance, and thread life.
When these go, I will look at other tires -- only because I would like a softer ride. Although I've been told that the softer-riding tires don't last as long, and at this price I'd rather not replace them every 18-24 months, so I may end up with the 555's again. I haven't experienced the hydroplaning problem or any gripping problems that others mentioned on wet pavement (or dry for that matter), but it doesn't rain that often here.
