To the Max in to get it inspected... at the dealership no less and they took it right in. After waiting about 45 minutes, I poke my head in the shop to see why it's taking so long and there are 2 techs and the service manager looking at my car. I ask if there's a problem and one of the mechanics mumbles that the machine is "busted" because my car keeps failing the emmisions test ( they had tested it twice so far). The service manager doesn't believe it and tells him to do it one last time. He goes around to the back of the car and inserts the probe in the LEFT tail pipe. Just then the light went off in my head ( there has been a post about this before on the forum) nothing comes out the left pipe until the engine is under load because of the "flappy thingy" in the muffler. I tell the mechanic to place the probe in the right side and it will work & he looks at me like I'm nuts! So I get the service manager and he say's "what the H***, try it". It worked!
So I want to says THANKS to you guys on the Forum for educating me. Also remember this when you get your car inspected!!

LMAO !!!!

I can't believe the dealer didn't know which tailpipe to stick the probe up. That's just hilarious!

LOL!! That's one of the best stories I've read in about a month. I guess that's one reason why this site is so great. Better info than Nissan!

Too late to think twice about buying a car from them, huh? Oh well. Lucky for you it's a Maxima, TX2KMAX.

Welcome to the famous Nissan Service. You should have told them to stick the probe up you know where!

Gotta agree with TX2KMAX, thanks to this forum I probably know more about the max than the so-called techs at my dealership.
