I'm in the club !!!

Just when I thought I was going to lose hope and resort to a lesser car.....I found an '03 Maxima yesterday and made it mine!

On the five mile drive from the dealership, I noticed the rear deck rattling from the sub and I also noticed the shifter being a little sticky. Anyone one else have this problem?

Now that I actually have a car, I suppose I will be subject to some bizzare hazing ritual by the .org members, no?

hahaha. yeah, only if you ask reposts such as those

the rear deck rattling is a very common issue. try searching, there are some homemade fixes for this.

as for your manual, i have an auto, but i know everyone complains about their shifter. i believe it's just an issue of poor design.

The .org new member ritual is: you have to ask a question about which intake to get and be flamed for not using the search button! After that you become officail

For example,

-Which should I get? Frankencar or Injen?

-Place racing vs. Injen

-Whats the best intake for Maxima?

and so on........

OR

-What is an RSB? FSTB? Do they work?

-What's the best oil?

Congrats!

Should I get the led nozzles?

Hey badabing..I remember you..so what color did you end up getting? Also, did you get a fair price?
Just stay away from this website..trust me...you don't want to get sucked in...you will find dust in your wallet where money is supposed to be.

I'd never even considered modding my car before I came here.

ditto...Now every time I see a way to mod my max I'm like, "Hey, I could do that myself," or, "Man, I wish I could afford that."

I'm glad I have will power to avoid spending all my money...

One thing I love tho, is seeing all of the modded maximas on this site...some beautiful cars, makes me jealous. I look at mine (all dusty and grimy) and just think about how it COULD look like those.

Man, I've been looking at this site for 2 weeks and before I even had the car I was day dreaming about things I wanted to do. That's very bad news. Bad, bad news.

When I got to the dealership, they rolled up a grey lustre with charcoal leather - just the one I wanted - only, it didn't have the Meridian package and slip differential, which i really didn't care about.

Instead, I went with a 6 speed sheer silver with everything except navi. I haven't driven stick in about 2 years but surprisingly I didn't stall out at all. It will take some time getting used to once I learn how to drive it well. I suppose I'll have to take it easy to break in the engine properly (don't worry, I won't ask how to do that - I'll do a search, fellas ).

The deal I got was a little more than I wanted to spend ($26,600) but I think that if I really wanted this car, I would have to spend that much. I hate all that BS the dealer's make you pay for like paint sealant and stuff like that but it was unavoidable. We spoke to the dealer prior to going there and when we sat down to work the numbers, the manager wrote down what they wanted and did not move at all. I appreciated the no-nonsense approach and I credit my uncle (very savvy) for explaining our position before going there.

Here's a question that may be dumb but maybe not - I don't like how the car beeps when you activate locks/alarm. How can I disable that?

Go ahead and razz me - I'm new here and I probably deserve it!

Hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob for a few seconds to switch between the horn honking or not...

Badabing, congrats on the purchase. You actually got the exact same car as me (Sheer silver, fully loaded minus navi, 6sp, etc). So I'd have to say you got the best!

Oh, and as far as hazing is concerned, if you haven't officially been flamed for posting something that's been discussed a gazillion times, then you're not yet officially in!

As far as mods are concerned, when I got this car, I had no intentions of doing ANY mods until AT LEAST I was out of the warranty. But as I spend more and more time on the .org, I find it harder and harder to resist doing some simple things (FSTB, RSB). My biggest concerns are: (1) voiding/having problems with warranty work, (2) messing up some components because of mods (i.e. O2 sensors, MAFs, etc), (3) going broke!

I'll see what happens, but maybe I'll start modding a little earlier than planned.

just a rant post - why do our boses suck so badly? today, i sat in a GS Lexus with the Mark Levinson. that thing blew my mind...never heard a stock system THAT good before. bass was absolutely killer when it needed to be (hip hop), but more than that, my more "musical" records just had so much more life than the bose system gives

Congrats! I bought mine earlier in the week, but just picked it up today. Sounds like your deal beat mine by about $500. Loaded - Nav. Wish I could say I didn't stall mine.
