Can somebody please tell me what this is? (sorry, fixed link)

I'm looking at the back of the "Non-Bose" HU and one of the inputs is not being used. It's circled below. Can you please tell me if I could use this as an auxillary input? For that matter, do you know if input next to it is the one for the tape? If so, could I take it off and hook up an auxillary unit?

Is it the input for the optional trunk mounted CD changer?

That would be my guess. Did you see any extra wires "tied" up in the dash behind the radio? Also try looking for the changer cable in the trunk to see if it is pre-ran.

No extra wires. Everything's being used and there are no pre-ran wires in the trunk.

I'm beginning to think that the Nissan HU does not have an Auxillary input. I've looked at Blitzsafe.com and logjamelectronics.com and I can't seem to find an Auxillary Input Converter for a Maxima.

Can anyone prove me wrong? Someone must have an aftermarket MP3 player that they are hooking up to the back of their "Non-Bose" HU???

there is no difference between Bose and Non bose changers.. the changer we (and infiniti) use are 96+ with "CHG" button on radio. that's about it.

and that looks *ALOT* like the changer plug to me

Do you think it would be possible to use that input as an auxillary input for say....an XM radio receiver....or would it not recognize the receiver as a separate device since it would be controlled by the CD player? Any thoughts?
