1st real mod, quite long.

Damn, I started at 3pm and just got finished, must be a helluva mod I hear you say, nope, aluminum bezel and chrome gauge rings, yeah, it took me ages. It took me an hour to get the gauge cluster out the first time, damn those cables are a bugger to get out. I put the aluminum bezel on (a little dissapointed with the fit, but, it looks ok), then I had to pick the wife up from work, so, I put the dash back in and got her. I then decided to put on the rings, took the dash out again (much quicker this time), lined up the rings, got the 2 large rings on, looking good, go to get my dremel tool to do the small ones, and, bollox, its busted. Put the dash back in, drive 10 miles to my Brothers house, grab his dremel, go home, work on the small rings install them, put the dash back in and stare in awe, god it looks so damn sweet. I was going to go with the white faced gauges, but, I think the aluminum/chrome/black looks so much better, will post picks when I get them , thanks for reading, gotta go sleep, have the Frankencar and fsb to do tomorrow .

Wow, good work! No sense in letting mods sit around...
Hope you can post some pics. btw, what did you use to secure/attach the rings? Who knows, I might decide to do the gauge rings later on?

Yeah, I gots the moddin fever, anybody know if there is something like a Betty Ford Clinic for car modding?.

as for the ring's, I used a toothpick to apply epoxy to the edges and, just held them, yes, a little crude, but, no fitting issues, or residue to show, it really does look great.

I totally know what you mean about being faster the 2nd time. Experiance is key. Mods that I've done to my car initially took several hours (or days). When I apply that knowledge again, it takes about 1/2 the time! I can now take out the stereo in my car with my eyes closed
