2003 owners...which one to buy?

Ive done so much research already, and nobody is sure of what Strut Tower to buy, that fits perfect, without banging into anything, or having to adjust anything under the hood. Anyone, regardless of price, does anyone know a clean one?

If $ is not an issue for you, go with the Stillen. It has no fitment issue.

get a $20 one on ebay and a $0.50 bag of washers at Home Depot... use the washers to raise the bar just a little and there'll be no fitment issues.

Actualy my buddy HAD the Stillen one on his 2K3 but when in reverse is scrapes the **** out of the throttle body. Then he put washers and that fixed that problem but then his hood liner was all f'ed up because the bar was too high.

BTW, I don't know if I already told you or not, but congrats on the 2003 SE purchase great color choice, too (Sheer Silver here).

I was moderately aggravated with the problems I had with my BOMZ FSTB; in reverse it hit the manifold, and if I fixed that by raising it the driver's side washer didn't work. And now...fixed (well, pretty much).

With some help from Soundmike's pics, I lowered the bar on one side only (driver's side), with the result that I really have to accelerate in reverse to make it hit the manifold, and the windshield washer now works just fine. Maybe the Stillen's perfect, maybe not (mixed opinions above), but I can now say the BOMZ will work fine.

Really? I have no fitment problem w/mine at all. I know that Stillen makes separate front strut bar for 2002-2003 model due to clearance issue w/the larger intake manifold. Unlike the rsb, the older 5th generation 2000-20001's strut bar won't fit the 02-03 Maxima.

You must have the 2 piece bar...the single one doesnt fit right.

FYI: When I first ordered a year ago, I thought I would get the 2-piece strut bars since it was advertised on their catalog. But I got the single bar instead. I called and talked to their R&D (research & development) department. They said that the 2-piece bars were not in production yet because of the issue with mounting location at the firewall. Apparently, the location where they are supposed to be mounted on is not strong enough to withstand the impact under load. They said they'd modified the original design of the 2000-2001's bar by raising the bar for the extra clearance needed around the intake manifold area.

Its weird. Its like it fits some and not otheres. My friend was wondering what this high pitched grinding noise was and finally diagnosed it as the FSTB rubbing against the throttle body upon reverse. Either way im glad your happy with yours...it helps when things made for you car ACTUALLY fit. I do love the look of the Stillen...best looking around.
