Are these threads REALLY necessary???

There are so many variables to rates (age, gender, location, driving record, etc.) that there will ALWAYS be widely different rates for the same vehicle.

No problem skandalouz venting, but let's not turn this into another 4 pager.

good point... "a few tickets" will raise your insurance pretty quickly. At 22 with "a few tickets" you're a bad risk until you're 25 (I believe).

ask your insurance company if successfully completing a "safe driver program" will lower your rate. Other than that, stop getting tickets and wait 3 years.

last... you'll change your tune if you ever hit someone/something and insurance pays $270,000 instead of you (medical stuff adds up QUICK!)

I'm 22 with a 100% clean record and pay about $2000 a yr.
I did find out though that progressive has the same insurance for $500/yr cheaper so I'll be going there after my policy runs out..plus if you go to one of their stores you can usually haggle them down some more
