I know this subject has been beaten into the ground lately, but I'm about to renew my policy, and am seriously considering changing providers.

I currently have State Farm (ever since I could drive) and they've been very good over the years, but ever since I got my 2k2, I've felt like the $1560.00/yr that I pay was a little too steep. I've got a perfect driving record.

So I found this website that give's some quotes on multiple insurance companies:
https://secure1.insweb.com/cgi-bin/auto.exe

and found for my car in Houston, Tx...

Travelers --> $1063.00/yr
Kemper Direct --> $1561.00/yr
Deerbrook --> $1956.40/yr
Progressive --> $3479.00/yr

Does anyone use TRAVELERS Insurance? I've asked around at work and no one uses them for auto insurance. But I may be saving approx. $500.00/yr thru them.

I'm currently having a agent w/ Travelers in my area give me a "confirmed" quote, who was very helpful. (I'll update w/ actual rate if interested.)

Believe it or not.....American Express has a great insurance company. I frequent online business sites, and found them listed as a recommended insurance company by the Wall Street Journal. They don't have agents, like State Farm or Travelers. The rates they have are exceptional. I've made one claim against them for a hit-an-run which went flawlessly.

I would at least inquire about a quote from them. Link Info

Thx for the tip!

I'm might see about a formal quote from AMEX also.

The rep from Travelers has been real helpful so far. I currently have a "family plan" w/ State Farm where my parents, brother and sister are all under the same policy and we're insured under each other's cars (for what used to be a discount) The rep told me that because one of the driver's (my sister) has a poor driving record now, that it's probably what's killing me at State Farm. He's gonna fax me a confirmed quote soon.

Thx again!

I've got Travelers, and they're pretty fair:

'02 Max w/ $50 deductible
'88 Isuzu PUP (winter beater) w/ minimum liability
'99 snowmobile w/ $50 deductible

1 @ fault accident, 1 no fault accident, 1 comp claim, 2 speeding tickets... ohhh, and single male (for some reason they like to jack the price up a bit)

$1475/year or $123/month

I've shopped around and haven't been able to compare...
