Timing advance cynics, check this out . . .

Here's a sig to give you apoplexy:

3.5 Altima 5spd

JWT Intake w/ custom midpipe
14.301 @ 95.56mph (2.207) 04/10/02
14.349 @ 96.75mph (2.259) 04/17/02

+Timing Advanced
14.251 @ 99.19mph (2.294) 01/26/03
14.316 @ 98.02mph (2.273) 01/26/03
14.371 @ 97.38mph (2.277) 01/26/03

If it works on an Altima 3.5 . . .

Thanks ewood420.

Re: Timing advance cynics, check this out . . .

Only problem with that comparison is it's not apples-to-apples. The faster advanced-timing runs were made in January under presumably colder conditions, ie more power. Also, the average times for both are actually quite similar...14.35 for std advance and 14.31 for advanced-timing. The only definite change is in trap speeds, 96.2 vs 98.2, a 2mph increase. Still, the likely atmospheric differences could easily account for this change.

Even if the ignition timing advance really does increase power and improve times, which I am sure it does, this data does not prove anything...still inconclusive.

tire size might have to do with the MPH's

replaced the stock 215 55 17 with 235 45 17

I'am actually going to get my timing retarded back to normal this thursday.

The car does feel more torkey thru the powerband with the timing advanced though....

The tempeture on those days are pretty close to, but I will have to check my timeslips to be sure.

here is a dyno with the intake and timing advanced.....
