Hlsd

When I bought my 6SPD 2002 I realized after that I bought too early and missed the HLSD.

Being from Canada I thought that I automatically had VLSD because supposedly all CDN Maximas have it. Apparently the 2002's don't have it.

Does anyone know if the HLSD is just a drop in or do I have to change a ****eload of parts?

While I haven't ever torn apart the differential to see what specifically it would take to add in the HLS carrier, I'm certain that it's an intensive job - definiately not a 'drop-in' type of thing!

you might have to call nissan about "dropping" in the factory hlsd. but there is an aftermarket company making what they called ATB (automatic torque biasing) differential that supposedly works even beter than the hlsd. http://www.quaifeamerica.com/
email them to see if they make one for the 02 max? and cost?

Upgrading to atb differential will definitely requiring dropping your tranny. So figure that's like 4hr of labor.. Nah you don't have to change a lotta parts... Just remove the open differential and put in the quaife..

Don't think they make one for 2002's. It's like $1000 anyways.
I wanted HLSD when I got my 2K2 6sp too, but it's kinda rare...was only like a $400 option too!
