? for those with spoilers
? for those with spoilers
I have a GXE and I had a spoiler added to it. Before without the spoiler, the trunk would pop up a little when you pushed the button, and it was pretty easy to lift it. After the spoiler was put on, the trunk lost it's popping up thing, and it just sits shut (it works fine, it just doesn't go up a little anymore when I push the button). It's also a little heavier and harder to lift. I told the service person about that, and he said it was normal for it to do that, and all SE's come from the factory and act just like that. I find that a little hard to believe. Can somebody shed some light on this?

yeah i have a 2000 gxe w spoiler. When i hit the trunk button i can hear the pop, but the trunk doesnt fly open, i think it is normal because the spoiler add extra weight. You can really tell the extra weight when u shut the trunk, It shuts really hard if not careful.
Wasim,
I just know you are not complaining you can lift open your trunk anymore because of the added weight of a spoiler
. AnywayZ, on my 2K SE, it works sometimes but not others. I noticed that myself and of course didnt really care too much about it. At times, the trunk does pop open up to a good 4" and others I just get an inch. I dont believe adding spoiler causes it to lose that 2-3" pop. My $.02 though and if you like my opinion.. you owe $1.

But thanks for the help guys...I guess it's a hit or miss thing with these spoilers. It bothered me a little, but not enough to where I'm going to hound Nissan about it. I never get anywhere with their service departments.
when i had my spoiler installed, the dealer told me it didnt come with the "upgrade springs" so that i guess makes the trunk not pop open as much as it used to. whatever, i dont care that much. i'm more concerned with the a-hole who stole my skis this afternoon! i hate being at college with all the jerks...

I own a 2k2 SE (spoiler standard), the trunk pops up 2-3 inches. I think it is standard for it to lift itsel slightly when not closed. If anything this helps make it obvious that the trunk is open so you don't drive off thinking its closed. I would dispute the dealer's claim of the non-pop up action being normal. I think bringing up the safety issue may get him to take your inquiry more seriously.
trunk
I bought me GLE used with the spoiler already installed and had the same spring problem. i told the dealer that it came that way and the said they would adjust my current springs for free. i guess it just depends on the dealer and if the service guys know who you are, but i would go and ask them to adjust the springs. just tell them you bought it that way
