Funny as hell - Service Manual

I have been having squeeky doors and rattling noises from the back window area for some time now. So, I decided to take my max apart to source out the problem...

So when I flip open the manual, there's a whole big section on Troubleshooting and fixing rattles. And that's not the funniest thing. It had every rattle I've been experiencing documented.

Ummm...wouldn't you think that if Nissan took this much time documenting the problems that they would try and fix them?

cheaper to print the problems on paper than to recall the cars.

I have the print version of the 2000 Maxima manual. It's a hefty 3 volume set. To big to put near the crapper. It weighs in at about 20 lbs. The actual "SQUEAK AND RATTLE TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS" section is about 10 pages as far as I can remember.

Topics include:
Instrument panel - i've some there
Center Console - yup...rattles every now and then. (no loose change)
Doors - oh yeah...driver door squeals like an SOB
Trunk - Rattles a near the upper shelf where Bose is...
Seats - Passenger seat squeaks every now and then.
Underhood - don't have any there...

But, that's 5/6 (83%). Nissan nailed all the problems I've experienced. They're pretty good.

it retailed @ ~200.00. i got it for free with my nissan along with a cd changer. the manual doesn't give you the step-by-step how-to. it lists several possibilities for each squeek and rattle and a general fix. (i.e. remove the rear seat and reseat them.) If you don't know how to do that then they refer you to the section where they describe the removal. it still makes me chuckle that they had the time o note some of the most frequently experienced problems. buy it only if you want to self-service or need any other info you car. I wouldn't shell out that amount of money for rattles alone.

so far, i've eliminated the center console squeek. it was a loose clip.
