It happens on all cars, it's just more visible on lighter colors. What happens is the metal particles that the trains kick up during transport land on the vehicle and stick. The remedy to this is to go down to your local pep boys and buy a mother's clay bar.
I second that...

they ship it here but then place it on trains to bring it to local areas

I'm gonna take a guess here. It's either from:
-Factory defect
-Industrial fallout
-Rail dust

But aren't are cars imported from Japan by boat and not by train??? And aren't the cars usually arrive in dealerships by a tractor trailer??? What about the bubbles that are starting to form within' my right rear fender well??? The left side of the rear fender well is fine. I've only had the car for only 5-6 months??? "WTF"

Yes, it should be.

Basic: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi.
Drivetrain: 5 yr. / 60,000 mi.
Roadside: 3 yr. / 36,000 mi.
Rust: 5 yr. / Unlimited mi.

That's your warranty on any new Maxima (I know it's valid for 2002+ model years).
the above warranty has been standard fare at Nissan for a few years...and still is.

I've had mine for about a month, and I just noticed the rust-like particles. Fortunately, you can't really see them unless you know they're there.

Cool. This is my first "new" Maxima, so I wasn't sure about prior years and their warrantys.

I waxed my car the very first week, and I noticed very tiny rust spots on my sterling-mist roof before I applied the wax. they were gone after I waxed it. I've waxed it many times since then and I haven't seen any new spots. I like to use Mothers California products.

I have a 03 Sheer Silver Maxima and I have noticed these rust spots. I checked with a local paint shop here in UT and they said that every vehicle gets these rust spots you just don't notice them on certain colors. They said that they are actually weather spots from polution in rain and snow. They said they are not a problem you just have to rub a little harder when washing to remove them.
