Service Engine Soon light

when i turned on my Cruise control, the "service engine light soon" came on.

It's about the 4th time the light has come on in 8 months of the car, first time with the cruise control though.

does anyone else have this annoying problem, the manual recommends opening and tighting the fuel cap, which isn't loose, i hear the click when the gas attendent closes it. however i open and close the fuel lid and usually goes away.

just more of an annoying thing i think, just wanted to verify it may not be another problem and curious if others had this happen.

Thanks in advance.

Why dont you just bring it to your local dealer to check it out...better safe than sorry especially if you keep getting a MIL lamp all the time.

I gather you don't fill the car up yourself. If the guy filling your car spills any gas around the filler tube it may cause the MIL light to come on shortly after. So with out knowing for sure if and when this happens I would fill the car up yourself for the next few months and see if you continue to have this happen.

Take it to Autozone and have them read the error code from the system. If the error code has to do with the 02 sensor, then take it in to the dealer... if it has to do with the gas cap, well then you know what to do from there.

Autozone will read this for free.
