I get no rear fill, due to the reason that the speakers are in the doors.

Anyone modify their car for better imaging?

Well, not so much modified the car as ripped out and replaced the whole system with two sets of 6.5" components (.75" tweeters) installed front and rear and two 12" subs in the trunk. Yea, no more problem with imaging.

No problem heer either - replaced with 6.5" MB Quarts all around and adjusted the amp to get that "Oh so nice" sound...

problem is that i barely hear the rear.
I have 6.5 infinity kappa 2 ways in the back, and components in the front.

Amped?

Since I have components I mounted the tweeters in the B-pillars. I will admit that I do have to favor the balance a little toward the rear but my JL 300/4 pusing 75w / channel is MORE than enough to bring them up to the same volumes as the fronts running on the same amp.

My only problem is when I go into my "Gansta Lean" I tend to fall out of the sweet spot. Man...I gotta grow up!

You're not supposed to hear the rear. It's just fill. When was the last time you went to a concert and stood with your back to the band?

This is just an opinion. I got into a heated argument a while ago on the .Org. Not everyone likes to hear music just fron the front and many recordings take advantage of both channels.

I am into Home Theater and I REQUIRE music from all directions. To have it just from the front is not enough and sounds like a$$ to me.

When was the last time you went to a concert hall and heard a VQ engine?

I prefer the "sitting in the middle of the stage" feel. IIRC I am -2, certainly -1 on the fade.

However the stock system blows in general. Decent when you crank it, but as for clarity, crispness, forget it. Ain't much you can do in a car. With all the angles, mix of surfaces.....

i totally agree with you. music should come from all directions. My rear seat passengers complain that the music dont sound full enough. ANd I complain about the smae thing. The rear deck speakers is a requirement, IMHO.

What does home theater have to do with music? Do you listen to music in your home through all 4 (5, 6) channels? Do you use sound fields while listening to music? It may sound like a$$ to you, but music (except for a handfull of bands) is recorded to be heard through a left and right channel radiating straight toward the listener.

Home theater is a general term. Interestingly enough you can hook up a CD player or Audiotron (the best thing ever invented) to it and have it play music.

The only useful sound field on any receiver I've found is 5 channel stereo. And yes I ONLY listen to music like that. Again, it is all personal preference. I'm sure also that my amplifier (car and home) is allowing me to listen to music WAY louder than any recording artist intended...does that make it wrong?

Look at what people to to their cars on the .Org. Was a Maxima meant to be anything other than stock???? NO. But you see rims, body kits, RSB, FSTB, Turbo chargers, super chargers, etc. Is everyone wrong for modding their car? No. Such is the purpose of life. It's all about what YOU like...not everyone else. I'm sure that Beethoven did not intend my two 15" subs to be jammin' while his CD was on...oh well the trance music is another story

It does for awhile but it doesn't take long to get used to. Thats if you care to have the staging effect like at a concert. The staging in the 5th gen Max is relativly good with the base audio system.

Now if you were watching DVD movies with surroundaroundsound, the rear speakers would be a must.
