Sealant needed for tail lights and bumper lights?

What sealant and how much should i expect to pay for them to

a) switching the tail lights ?

b) switching the 4 bumper lights from stock to those clear ones?

also is it a tape or gluey material?
Can I buy it from anywhere but Nissan dealers?

Thanks in advance, can't wait until the search is back up.

When I switched my tails the new lights I ordered from the dealer came with the sealant. It is a sticky, putty-like substance. You don't need it for the bumper lights - they just snap in. I would think that the dealerships have the sealant, shouldn't be more than a couple of bucks.

You should seal the four bumper lenses, otherwise you might get condensation in the

I went with a clear silicone sealer, I don't know exactly which one. You can go to Home Depot or somewhere like that and spend less than ten bucks.

I also used the clear silicone sealant to seal my clear corners since they had condensation after a couple of weeks of being on the car...

RTV Silicone Sealant

That's what you need for the clear corner lights. You won't use even 1/2 the tube on them but you want to make sure they are sealed nice and tight. This stuff stinks to all hell so make sure you do it in a well ventalated room or outside (if not humid). I let mine dry for a few days to be on the safe side and I've got no problems with the condensation. Although I did almost puke from the smell.

Tail lights I've got no idea.

Oh...

You can pick up the RTV stuff at an autoparts store. Cost no more than $5 for the tube (white tube with blue and orange writing I think).

Re: Oh...

did your taillights come with no sealant at all? for the tails, if they have some sealant residue from the previous owner, then you should be ok just sticking them on there. since you screw the lights in in four places, the sealant will spread across the whole area. if you bought them new and they didn't come with any sealant, i think your best bet is to go to like autozone or home depot and pick up a tube. you shouldn't have to use even half the tube.

ditto.. get it from home depot, it's a silver tube and is made by DAP I think.. just make sure while it's drying (approx. 10-15 minutes), you press the two halves together REALLY FIRMLY (don't crack it).. it may be a little boring to sit there holding these together, but in the end it will be worth it (no leaks)..

I did it and I am very happy..
