clogged cat?
clogged cat?
My SES light went on the other day and I've been noticing that there is a sulfur smell coming from the vents once in a while. I've been using premium 92 octance gas so I'm thinking it has to do with either my o2 sensor or cat converterter. My OBD 2 shows its a cat problem so I wanted to know if there is a way to "unclog" the cat to eliminate the smell and code. Thanks.
Cat problems
I don't think you can 'unclog' a cat. When they clog, the insides have broken down and that's it, it's shot. I think you'll have to replace it. What year and how many miles? I think cats are warranted up to 80K, at least on BMW's they are.
I think the emissions warranty covers it. Check it out and see if it's covered. If the cat is bad, the car will be very sluggish.
Good Luck
