2003 Maxima SE Folks..HELP!

Just bought a Super Black 2003 Maxima SE (Titanium Edition)- its loaded with every option but Nav. Got it for 26k plus Tax/Tag/Title, so I thought is was a good deal. You think?!

Anyways, there's three things I really need to know:

1) Under braking there is some slight lopping coming from the car, could the front rotors be warped, is this a known problem on 03's with under 500 miles on them, with rotors going bad quickly?

2) I want to replace the "Foglight bulbs" with some PIAA Extreme Whites, are the OEM foglight bulbs H3's ????

3) The "Clearance light bulbs", does PIAA make a replacement for those, whats the bulb #??? I just really want to get rid of the "yellowish" bulbs as much as possilbe on my 03 Max, so everything matches the HID's more!

Thanks !!!!

Ryan

as for the steering vibration, this was discussed here:
Steering Wheel Shudder

My car exhibits the same problems, I plan on replacing the rotors anyway with cross drilled or slotted ones, so it's not really an issue to me at this point.

as for the bulbs, I have no idea....

as for your price, I paid $22k for my 03 Maxima SE auto/sunroof/Titanium package...

I've had no problems with my brakes on my 2k3...

my 1998 didn't stop near as good as the 2k3, I have experienced no steering wheel shudder...

lucky me I guess...

I paid $26,200 for a fully loaded (exc. Navi) 2003 SE TE in September 02. You may have paid a lille much but its gone now so oh well.

I had to have my rotors resurfaced at 1000 miles (and only because I finally hit them hard after the break-in. It was probably bad from day 1). They did not replace the pads. I was pretty p!ssed about it but they are not vibrating anymore.

Yes, the fogs are H3 and the Xtreme whites match the HIDs really well. As far as the clearance, PIAA does make them (they are 194/168 wedge type) but according to PIAA "They are a little on the blue side because they are just coated". One thing you will see with bulbs from PIAA is that they do not look the same for the different bulb types. I replaced the high beams (9005s) with PIAA Xtremes and they are not as white as the fogs. They have a hint of yellow. Still better than stock, but not as good as the H3s

Congrats on your purchase and be careful of your HIDs...they are stealing them like crazy!

spta97: thanks for the info, your feedback was what I was hoping for! The PIAA Xtreme White H3's are going in ASAP.
It does **** me off about the rotors, you shouldn't have to deal with this **** on a new car, but oh well.

Thanks!

P.S. I have my fingers crossed about the HIDS, but I live a small town, and work at home, so hopfully I'll be ok.

1) I had the same problem, brake lightly to warm the rotors first, then dive into them hard. The rotors warp slightly when they get too hot too fast. The only way I found to unwarp them was to brake hard again, and keep pressure on the pedal until it went away. I do alot of high speed interstate driving (100-110 on FL turnpike between MIA and ORL) and I encounter State Troopers and Dumba$$ drivers who jump into my lane suddenly. This used to happen frequently, but after 18000 miles, it doesnt occur anymore

2) Yes

3) 168/194 wedge bulb, also do the high beams with piaa Xtreme Wheite 9005's

Good luck

I had the same problem on my Max. Less than 1000 miles and the rotors were warped. I took it to the local dealer and the resurfaced them. I had 212 miles on my car when I bought it. Makes me think what the hell they did to my car in that period of time.

I have an 03 Sheer Silver SE Titanium edition as well. I used the Extreme white PIAA H3 fogs, the polarg M4 in the marker lights, and I also ditched the yellow high beams for PIAA extreme white 9005s. Well worth the money to get rid of all those yellow lights.

$24.5k for mine with leather and sunroof (plus various minor things they threw in like splash guards, trunk carpet, etc.)

As noted, yes. I have PIAA Extreme Whites and like them - HUGE improvement over stock. They are a little less blue than the Xenon's; PIAA also makes a Super Plasma bulb, which has been reported to be a little too blue...take your pick.

I have Raybrig Hyper-Whites in my clearance bulbs (size as noted above), and it changed them from the 'flickering candle' look to a bright light. It's significantly different than the HIDs, but it's a 5W bulb so not sure how close you're ever going to get - they're at least much closer now. I tried PIAA Extreme Whites first, and they were WAY too blue for me.

Here's the link to pics of my lights.
